I really liked them as well. Lots of people hated the looks. I was |..| that close to buying a Mk2 with the 6.0L in black/black with the performance suspension package BRAND NEW back in '06. Decided to buy a used 4dr S10 instead, and put the rest of the money into a new plan. Within a year I had a boat after understanding I saw more bikinis at the lake than at the car show.
I get 12-14mpg with my boat full of fuel, supplies, and bed loaded on relatively flat road with just some rolling hills, with cruise set at 70mph. Also with the max tow and the 36 gallon tank I can go quite a distance. With it unloaded I have seen about 780 miles to a tank of gas. Loaded I haven't run it to close to empty, but would fill up about every 4 hours or about 300ish miles.

70 mph would get you run over in FL, lol. At the very least people would have swerve around you for driving like grandpa.
But yeah, that 36 gallon tank is great. I had it on my 2015 5.0, I filled up like once a month. Even with the 6 speed auto I saw 22mpg highway, that was on a fully loaded platinum fx4 all the weight all the time truck.

Because allegedly it's fine but it also likely voids your warranty. Kinda like dune jumping in a raptor. It's "built for it" and there's promo material showing it to build hype, but it voids your warranty if you do it.

Subaru was super flagrant with this thing back in the early '00's. So much so that if you got the free SCCA membership with your new WRX, they would check the online results of your local chapter and look for your name, if found, your warranty was voided and they no longer covered damages.
In terms of the truck, ai wouldn't do it either. More out of a common sense approach to not getting stuck than anything else though.
I never really saw it. Sure it has similar lines and the same grill, but so does every BMW and Audi on the planet. Did they take the brand consistency too far? Maybe, but it's not flagrant IMO.
For me, the 18 gallon tank would be to small for any long distance towing. Probably would have to fill the tank every 200 miles. Of course, for shorter distances would not be issue.
The 7500 lb tow capacity is with the EcoBoost 2.3L engine and the ten-speed automatic transmission.
I looked at Rangers and Gladiators when I bought my truck. The Ranger had the capability, but was as small as a Mustang on the inside and wasn’t significantly less expensive than an F150, to me, to make it worth it. The Gladiator was just as small and technically capable to tow (7200 lbs?) but unpleasant to do so.
This is kinda bizarre to me. But, if you watch their launch video, it takes some distance to be able to float the boat off the trailer. I'm guessing they are so far into the lake on the retrieval to float the boat onto the trailer. Seems to me it would be better to replace the bulk trailer with a roller trailer so they don't need as much water, but perhaps there is a reason not to do so?
Our Tacoma is rated for 6000 pounds or so, it’s miserable towing an AR190, 3500 pounds wet? Tow mode, never in over drive, screaming to pull hills. MPG went from 18 ish to 11-12.
