Team,
I'm flushing the engines on my 2023 SX220. I had my 19-month old boy in the boat with me. I notice he's pulling on the switches, so I decide to get him off the boat before he breaks something. I shut off the starboard side and shut off the water. I switch the hose and get the port side engine running...get my kid off the boat kicking and screaming...total meltdown.
I notice he had a poopy diaper, so I go inside the house and change it. Come back outside...I believe within 10 minutes from the time I got the engine running. I realize I had never turned the water on! The alarm is going off and I am in total panic mode. I opened the engine compartment and see light smoke. It appears to me that it was the silicone and WD-40 burning off. The compartment itself is not that hot. I got some oil from the dipstick and put it on my hand to get a feel for the temperature...not hot at all. I did notice the head was hotter than that of the other engine, but I could still touch it without burning. Engine is running normally without any abnormal noises.
Anyway...what are your thoughts? Do you think I caused any damage?
Thank you,
Ric
