Putting back together a 1.8L after timing chain break. Need all relevant advice for getting Cyl 1 to TDC please!

OK, broke my chain at around 600 hours, a few weeks ago. Machine shop is installing all new valves and decking head, as needed. Should be ready today. The Yamaha tech I'd like to use is leaving for vacation and my season is fading. I'm reasonably handy and used to be a mechanic. Have built 1/4...

Broken timing chain on a 1.8L yamaha engine. Are these freewheeling or not?

Hey @Ronnie how did you make out? I lost a chain this Sunday and am going through your same thought process on the repairs. I was around 600 hours on my 2010. Curious what you found when you took it apart and what it took to repair it. Hope all is well.

    Tullytown Cove, PA

Bordentown Sandbar is my favorite spot. There's also Tullytown Cove and a couple other coves for swimming, and a few places to dock Bristol Wharf has a bunch of restaurants, bars, distilleries and breweries.

I swim in it pretty regularly and look at me, I'm fine🤪 Only time I don't, is after a storm. That's when it's nasty. All the storm drains in Philly and Camden lead to the river. Trash, needles, sewage, etc. Takes a few days to clear up. Most of our swimming is well North of the city anyway though.

There's a small island with trees, just off the south tip of it is a great sandbar. For years, I went to the east side but the west side is much nicer. You get occasional boat wakes, but the current isn't as strong. You will usually see a bunch of Sea Ray cruisers over there. We call it Sea Ray...

Current is hard to avoid. We like the west side of the sandbar near Woodbury creek. Seems pretty safe there.

$6 "hinge" for my cooler seat.

Small update: the rubber treads dry rot after a couple seasons. I went with a silicone mat and cut to size, and it's been going strong for a bunch of seasons now.

Installing Dometic / Waeco CD-030DCW Refrigerator in Yamaha SX230

Thanks Bruce. I have it connected to a battery charger, providing a constant 13v. Unfortunately, the problem is still there. I do not remove the batteries, ever. Boat stays plugged in all the time, at the dock, or in my driveway. I'm at my wit end with it. I see new drawer fridges for $400, so...

    ANYONE NEED UPHOLSTERY DONE?

If i can find some paper big enough to trace it on, I will, but then it would be easier to just mail the paper rather than try to get all the angles right.

    ANYONE NEED UPHOLSTERY DONE?

Here's some pics. The area I modified does not effect the total length or width of the piece you'll need to buy. Looks like you'll want a piece 5' long and 2' wide to get what you'll need.

    ANYONE NEED UPHOLSTERY DONE?

I can get you a generic measurement. Mine is a 2010 but should be the same. I also modified that seat to hinge open, so youll have to add 1-2"

Installing Dometic / Waeco CD-030DCW Refrigerator in Yamaha SX230

@Bruce have you had any issues with your fridge? mine worked great for 2 years and didnt work at all last season, and I never had a chance to look into it. Now, I have some time, the service light flashes twice, and compressor doesnt kick on. After alot of reading, 2 flashes is usually...

Pump Bearings Service Intervals / Replacemant

Thanks Jeff. I dont want to add another maintenance item by using oil. I am over 500 hours and never had the cones off. If I can add or replace with something more "fluid" and still have basically zero maintenance, I'd choose that option.

Need new Bimini for 2011 242 Limited S

I didnt read all these posts, just sharing info in case it helps someone. I sent out a brand new OEM bimini top to Sew Fine in Oklahoma to be used for a template to make me a black bimini top. If anyone is also interested, please contact Chuck at Sew Fine. He has recovered some seat cushions for...

@seanmclean that's a cool spot but gets crowded. Hung out there many times. It's really nice during the week.

Is anyone using an inflatable stand up paddle board (SUP)?

Picked up a nice 11' SUP this spring. Didn't think I'd ever try it but I did and its not bad. Just wondering if you guys found a decent way to store it while inflated, for the weekend, while on the boat? Didn't really want to deflate it on Saturday evening, then blow it back up Sunday morning...
