    The Vaccine

I'm not advocating for one side or the other - it's a personal choice. I ran across this article, and the points he makes are interesting, but the comments show the extreme polarization on this topic. Much like this thread in fact. Link to article Check the comments.

    2018 242X Ballast Leak

I have an extremely slow leak in my port side ballast (a fitting I suspect.) I've been chasing this since the boat was new and suspected it was the impeller in the pump since I was never able to find anything wet. After changing the impeller and filling the bag I noticed a drip running off the...

MR1-HO Owners. What Oil Filters Are You Using?

The screenshot above is the model I use for the MR1 HO engines. I have them on a '07 and '08 Waverunner FX HO right now. Hiflofiltro: Catalogue I remembered there was some change with the filter parts through the years. This seems like a good summary of what I found previously: Updated filter part

Building new boathouse - what size lift?

I have this 5000 lb shallow water lift - UltraLift2 Shallow Water Boat Lift In the photos it's the one with black tanks. It doesn't have any problem lifting the boat, and launching is quick, but when my boat is lifted the top of the tanks are barely out of the water. Where the hoses connect...

MR1-HO Owners. What Oil Filters Are You Using?

I used the K&N's for a long time on my last boat and Waverunners. After seeing the K&N recall for issues with the welds, I did some research and switched to these. Hiflo has been mentioned here by others, so maybe someone else will comment on their experience with them. Also adding this quote...

    2018 242X Audio Problem

The programmer is something that Wetsounds tech support will provide to you or a dealer to fix a problem. In my case the program on the amps didn't match the wiring harness on the boat. They won't provide the software to adjust the gains or anything else. All I could do is plug it in and press...

Wake Booster VS Thrust Vector Wake

I picked up the wake booster last week and we spent all last weekend surfing. It was a lot better than I had expected and worked great. Played with the ballast and found with 2 adults on board, and 1 surfing all tanks full made a really nice wave. Had to reduce the ballast a little with more...

    Considering a move to TN

I've traveled all over the country with my job and haven't found many places I liked better than TN. If I were to relocate somewhere else in TN it would be Chattanooga. You should go and spend a week there. Check out the lake, the mountains, downtown, real estate. And 10Gb internet to your house...

    2018 242X Audio Problem

Thanks @tek4fun @JDRacing and everyone for all the info. On my boat the Wetsounds DSP amplifiers programming did not match the speaker wiring. I was able to get the left/right issues resolved by reprogramming both amplifiers. I didn't have to change the pins, cut, or splice any of the wiring...

Gas gauge on 2018 242 SE

The only option I know is take the batteries home with you in the off season to charge. Make sure you turn off the house/start/parallel switches in the summer every time it goes back to dry stack to remove the parasitic drain the ECM and other electronics cause. If you're using the boat once a...

Gas gauge on 2018 242 SE

12.0v is technically dead on a 12v battery, and if it stays that way long the capacity will decrease as lead sulfate builds until your batteries are ruined. Check the batteries with a multimeter and see if the reading matches. Also, try putting a battery maintainer/desulfating charger on them to...

Break in with stock oil or synthetic?

Some new engines come with special break in oil from the factory, some may not. I don't know what's in these as the factory fill. Yamaha recommends Yamalube 4W 10w-40 (conventional) oil, and because of that I'd stick with it through the first 10 hour change and at least through the next 50 hours...

Gas gauge on 2018 242 SE

I can confirm my boat also fluctuates a lot between on plane and idle. It was around 15% until I dropped off plane then it showed 0%. Just for a reference point I put 43 gallons in it right after this photo was taken, so the on plane amount seems accurate, and the idle/floating amount is...

    Fusion Software update

It shouldn't really be a hassle. Mine was a pain because the helm USB port doesn't work, and the memory stick I tried first wasn't compatible. The update takes maybe 2 minutes to complete. Software updates add features, increase stability, and for me allowed the Fusion app to work.

    2018 242X Audio Problem

To check mine I unplugged the rear cabin speaker and the front continued to play. If it was in series I don't believe this is possible, break the connection of one and they all stop working. On my boat the only speakers that share an amp output channel are the front / rear cabin speakers. All...

    2018 242X Audio Problem

I missed this when I was verifying all of the speaker connections. The front and rear cabin speakers seem to be wired in parallel. On mine the front and rear right share channel 1 on the HTX6 and front and rear left share channel 2 on the HTX6.

    2018 242X Audio Problem

That solves the fader issue, I remember seeing Zone 1 and 2 linked. Please do send me the correct pinouts. Here's how mine is wired: HTX 6 Input: Fusion Zone 1 to HTX6 CH1/2 Fusion Sub to HTX6 CH5/6 HTX6 Outputs: Gray – CH1 – verified as front and rear right – Cable labeled “Right” White –...

    Fusion Software update

I did this update today, I hope it's easier for the rest of you than it was for me. Tried the USB port on the helm, USB stick wasn't seen by the RA70N. USB port just seemed to be dead. Found the connection to the USB extension cable under the helm, unplugged the helm connector, it was barely...

    2018 242X Audio Problem

Anyone with a 2018 (or 2019) 242X would you test this and see if it's just my boat? Start some music (I was using bluetooth audio). On the Connext screen go to audio settings. If I move the fader to the front, it seems to have no effect and all speakers still work. Move fader to rear all audio...
