    Anyone run the Trent-Severn Waterway?

I’ve gone from Lake Simcoe to Georgian Bay in my 230. Absolutely no issues. You can camp at locks and there is accommodations along the waterway. The whole thing would be a great trip.

Torn... next Yamaha vs an actual Surf boat

I too did not buy my boat exclusively to surf. I loved my Yamaha but the one thing that always bothered me about was 1 the noise, and soundproofed the hell out of that thing 2. the clean out plugs. Every time went to the marina a had to clean out the weeds put in the plugs, repeat if is picked...

Torn... next Yamaha vs an actual Surf boat

I made the jump a couple of weeks ago to a Mastercraft X25. For surfing the boat is definitely easier but there are some draw backs. Manoeuvring in tight spaces is near impossible and if you want to back up you can only turn right unless you’re really moving. I must say the new boat has taken...

    Thanks

I loved my Yamaha experience but it was time to move on to a boat a little more sport oriented so last weekend I purchased a Mastercraft X25. My SX230 sold in 48 hours to a family with 5 children. Hopefully the new owner will join the forum soon. She was a great boat with so many memories made...

What is wrong with my wake surf setup?

The board is an Inland Surfer Red Rocket. It is a large board but as i mentioned I’m old and fat. Having the right board for your size, ability and wake size is important too. We have smaller boards for smaller people. Creating a good wake is a science. You need to take some time and try a few...

What is wrong with my wake surf setup?

Shallow water is a wave killer regardless of how much ballast. I suggest at you get two or three more bags (different sizes) and invite a few friends. Put most of the weight surfside.

What is wrong with my wake surf setup?

You need more ballast. First fill the bag on the swim platform to its max. Then add 750 under the surf side rear bench seat. Add another 200-300 in the bow. If you don’t have many passengers maybe another 400 on the floor. You need at least 2000lbs of ballast and people.

    Skiing behind a Yamaha 242Xe

Because thrust is developed at the surface it will always be turbulent as you ski behind the center of the boat. It sort of feels like you skiing on a washboard. I’m afraid there’s no much you can do to prevent that.

Is it safe to add Kilmat to the waterbox?

I did mine too. I’m not sure if it helped much but every little bit helps.

Is it tough to get a boat in Canada?

The market is crazy here, I purchased my 2009 SX230 In 2013 for $25000, I could sell today for $40000. Very few boats for sale and way overpriced IMHO.

I don’t usually brag about going to expensive places, but

I’ve got you all beat, I’m Canadian. You should see my tax bill.
