Looking for advice on a 2017 212X stereo upgrade

Thanks to all that I’ve learned about stereos by following all the experts on this site, I’m thinking about a series upgrade to my stereo. Before I get into what I’m thinking of changing, here’s what’s in the boat currently (all factory installed): - Polk DB651’s in the bow and rear cabin -...

    Wet sounds speaker hum

I installed a pair of rev 10 wetsound speakers with a wetsounds amp. When the boat is not running they sound great, when the boat is running you can hear a humming noise. Doing a little research I thought it was maybe a ground loop so I tried grounding the stereo head to the amp, that didn't...

    Polk app

Has anyone played with the new remote app from Polk? apparently you can run your late model stereo completely from this app. Inputs, bass, treble, volume, everything. Might be worth checking into...

How to calculate battery life with a big stereo?

Anyone got a good link to a calculator that will tell me how long a battery would last when connected to a big stereo? My 242x currently has 1000w of amps and I'm about to add another 500w amp (cuz I have a wetsounds amp laying around and bought a pair of JL speakers from a member here). Just...

    Minor stereo upgrade question

Maybe a stupid question, but is there any reason why I can't do this as stop-gap measure on my stereo system? I want to add tower speakers (cans loaded with Polk db651's). Currently I have the factory Clarion M502, (4) factory Polk DB651's and a Clarion XC1410 amp. I will eventually buy...

    Retain Stereo Settings

Do you guys know of a way to keep my stereo setting when I remove my battery to charge? I'm taking the boat for a lake trip next week and I'll have to bring the batteries in at night to charge. I finally have the stereo set just the way I want and don't want to lose settings. Is there like a usb...

Proposed Yamaha 242 Limited S E-series audio upgrade

I am thinking about upgrading my factory audio system as shown in the diagram below. Does this look reasonable, or am I missing anything? The upgrade would use a Polk DB1040DVC 10" sub and a Polk D5000.5 5-channel amp. Any thoughts?
