I get a long beep instead of the 2 beeps that you should get in order to start. I have checked & cleaned every wire connection & fuse that I can find. I have traced good continuity from DESS post back to the Fuse Block Box. I have moved Lanyard key in different positions on the DESS post. I thought I had found that a certain position the Lanyard key was on DESS post was the problem, so I marked a line facing up on the key. I then took it off & on the DESS post several times & was able to get the 2 beeps & would then start. After sitting a few weeks, I went back out to check it again to see if it was still working & it wasn't. I gave up & took it to a repair shop, they are telling me it is the Fuse Block Box, but don't know for sure. Has anyone had this issue before & knows a fix. I would appreciate any help with this.

Usually it is just a bad d e s s cap try wetting the cap and then plug it on the post when I had those I always had a couple extra caps programmed as backups it is simply a resistor with a supposed singular resistance identity, so any corrosion or poor connection changes that resistance and the key won't be recognized. I had 2 identical 4 stroke sea doo skies so I had the keys cross programmed to both. And a backup cross programmed also. They can store numerous different resistance values in the D E S S system.
When they start going bad you will eventually need a new key as they corrode inside the cap especially if used in salt water.
All the electrical issues and the pump angle bearing failures along with the carbon seal issues cured me of that brand actually.

Thanks for the reply Cobra Jet. I have another DESS key that I tried also & it didn't change anything.

Also I forgot to mention that the Nav lights on my boat stopped working last year. Don't know if this could be any thing related. I can get the Anchor light to work all the time, but the green & red light on front (Starboard & Harbor) they will sometimes work.
