Hello All,

I've spent some time reading other contributors to the site and wanted to add some of my "lessons learned" of my own as well as asking for a bit of advice. Recently I fired up our rig and headed out on the water to find that the boat was hesitating and surging in RPM. This seemed to subside for the rest of the ride. Thought it was simply air in the fuel lines from changing the fuel and oil filters in the fall before storing as this was the first ride out. The next time I took the boat out, it wouldn't run up past 5,400-5,600 RPM. I thought the worst, blown supercharger, stuck fuel injector, fried ECU. Decided to get a new set of plugs before pulling them for inspection. Pulling the plugs they all appeared in good condition. Attached phot is the worst of the four replaced. No carbon buildup, appears to have clean burn, little to no electrode damage. I have not yet tested resistance. After replacing plugs with the recommend NGL LFR6A copper plugs, the boat performed beautifully. Runs consistently at 7,200-7,300 RPM WOT. Hope this may help others diagnosing similar issues with their boats.

Looking for other's experience on engine mods on the 1.8L SHO (supercharged). I'm looking at modifying the ECU mapping to a Stage 1 tune (V-tech or Riva?), to get to the 8,300 RPM rev limit, wondering how this effects boost pressure, top speed, etc. Interested as to whether the Maptuner can be used as an engine diagnostic tool as well. Looking at which impeller to go with to match and whether I should be looking at a top loader intake. Please note that running to and from our dock we're in 3-6 ft of water with lots of grass so I'd like it to be as easy of easier to clean-out if required. Any advice would be much appreciated. For reference our '13 SX192 is currently running 7,200 RPM on 91 Octane and getting up to about 48 MPH with full fuel and one driver (220lb). Best cruising mileage has been about 2.8 MPG running at 6,200 - 6,400 RPM at 35 MPH.

When I took delivery of my boat I had similar issue. It ended up being a loose ignition coil.
