New year, new model or reborn model.. I think I should have waited to see if there were kinks to be worked out.. anyway.. the boat has only been in a fresh water lake, after one long weekend I noticed as soon as I switched the battery on the tachometers started to bounce...0 to 8 and 8 to 0... Nice easy rythm... Good for music, not so much for a boat... Went to fire her up...and as before, fired right up but the needles didn't change and the display was totally dead... It's in the shop, I assume it's a bad display but not sure it's a good sign that it's in the shop with less than 100 hours on it... I'll update when I know something more.

My 2017 AR 210 just experienced the same problem today. I have no idea what's going on, did they ever tell you what was wrong with yours? Everything was working fine and then it wasn't. No loose wires or bad connections from what I can see.

Brent... I totally forgot about this post... The whole situation was borderline fiasco with the dealership... BLUF.. it's fixed and it was the display computer... It is not the tachometers... It is not the signal coming from the engine... But the display computer 100%.. they ended up replacing the unit and it works normal again.
They had no explanation as to why .. just replaced it.

Appreciate the reply. Guess I'm taking it back to the shop.

My New 2018 SX210 with 5 hours did the same thing!!!!! I’ve spent a two weeks searching for similar scenarios until now! Taking the boat in for service on Sat. Hopefully the symptoms continue at the dealer so they can replace the unit .

My dealer had to replace both tachs and the display screen which took 2 months to come from Yamaha. SMH! Hope your boat gets fixed faster than mine did.

Thanks

Brand New 2017 AR210. Pulled it off the trailer into the lake to complete my engine break in. About 5 minutes in started getting intermittent general alarm“starboard engine communication error”. When the alarm was active, the starboard tach would drop and/or bounce back and forth. Engine ran fine, never stuttered or malfunctioned.... just tach issues and the annoying alarm on and off.

Dealer initially told me was probably related to the starting order of the engines when I fired them up???? Really?

Brought bought in for warranty service. Called back a day and a half later and was told the entire display unit ($1000) needed to be replaced. Was estimated for at least 4-5 day wait for parts from Yamaha.

Hope the display fixes the issues and is completed quickly. I have heard of people in other forums having to replace the tach/s as well.

Will update when fixed or have further....

Got the boat back 2 days later. Dealer replaced the entire Connext display/interface ($1,100 warranty repair) and resolved the “starboard engine communication” fault issues.

This is still a problem with Yamaha. Took my new 210fsh in for the 10 hour service, picked it up and headed for the boat ramp. Both displays sweep from 0 to 8 and back as soon as the house battery is turned on, and the screen stays blank even after starting the engines. Took it back to the dealer only to be told today that it is a bad display but Yamaha says it's on backorder.
Brand new boat only on the water once. We'll have to see how long this takes.

New 2022 AR210. Bought in Dec. No hours, other than the day-of-purchase test drive. MFD & both tachs dead on start. Engines & everything else running A-okay/four-oh. Added a second, quality (Optima) deep-cycle, house battery over the winter months. Installed all Blue Sea battery switches, busses and cabling. Dealer has for eval. More to follow.
