2017 Starved Rock to Peoria Run, Sunday Oct 8

Ok guys, who's with me on Sunday, Oct 8, 2017 for the Starved Rock to Peoria run?

Every year, in October, we have a run on the Illinois river from Starved Rock Park in Peru, IL to Peoria IL. This is a 78 mile trip. It usually takes us 2 or so hours to cruise down. We eat lunch and head back up. It is usually a nice relaxing pace. We usually have around 12 - 15 boats. We will plan to leave Starved Rock at 8:30 am. Everyone should plan on getting there between 7:30 am - 8:00 am, so that we can launch and be ready to go by 8:30 am. We always encourage boaters to dress in layers. We usually always start off in sweats and end up in t-shirts by afternoon. Our old faithful lunch spot was Joe's Crab Shack which closed down prior to last year's trip. Then we tried New Amsterdam last year. That has now also closed. I made Kuchies for 11 am. It is important that we get there at 11 right as they open to ensure we get dock space. Also, after we leave lunch there is a marina (Eastport Marina) about 1 mile away where we can refuel before heading back north.

I would love to come and do this run again, but seeing as I will be having outpatient surgery on the 6th I don't think it's in the cards for this year. Have a great time everyone!

Kuchies would be a good destination for lunch. It is a couple miles longer than the normal stop. Kuchies has good docks and a lot of outdoor seating. Also a signature bloody marry drink


Peoria will be tearing down the elevated area where Joe crab shack was located in October. Making another Green area park there.

Rhythm kitchen music cafe and Blue Duck are on water street in Peoria. They are both closed on Sundays. There maybe some more in the that area ,just not sure.

I have not been impressed with Boat Heads at Eastport Marina.

Had not as yet, but very good input. @luckie_529 , How far past the docks in front of the old Joe's is Kuchies? Which ones of your suggestions are on the water (or just off of it)?

@OperationROL I met a guy at Lake Geneva last weekend that said there was a good restaurant 2 blocks walk from our regular pier. It may be an option as Kuchies appears to have limited docking.
