I picked up a 2019 212 Limited S last week and noticed that the stereo is a Fusion MS-RA70NSX, so I'm looking into what it would take to add an XM tuner to it. Have a couple unknowns that I'm trying to figure out before buying the tuner.

1. What's the easiest way to get to the back of the Fusion on the swim platform?

2. If an XM tuner is added, will it show up as an input option on the Connext? (It's not currently there)

Not related to the question, but interestingly the other 2019 212 Limited S at my dealer has a MS-RA70N instead of the MS-RA70NSX.

I purchased a 2019 212X and have the exact same question. If I add the XM module will the connext system recognize it and show an input icon on the screen?

1. Easiest way to get to the back of the Fusion radio is to take off the two end covers on it and remove the 4 screws. Be careful taking it out because the wiring may be pretty tight.
2. Unfortunately, the XM input will not show up on the Connext display.

The reason you see both versions of the radio on the same boat is because Fusion discontinued the RA70N and Yamaha had to change it.

I have a 2018 242LSE which had the Fusion MS-RA70N in it. I swapped it out for the Fusion- RA70NSX and as discussed the Connext does not recognize it. However with the fusion link app for your smart phone and you will be able to control the whole radio from your smart phone change the Sirius XM channels, volume..etc.

What else did you need to add besides the MS-RA70NSX? Where did you mount additional equipment, and where did you place antenna?

You will need the Sirius XM Tuner and antenna (SiriusXM SXV300V1 is what I used) to connect to the MS-RA70NSX. The SXV300V1 I mounted close to the radio using access from the rear seat (super strong velcro). I ran the antenna wire to the front of the boat and out the hole right in front of the drivers console where the GPS antenna comes out. To get the wire to the front you can just keep taking out cupholders, etc to pull the wire all the way along the side. Seems to be the best location I could find for reception. I believe there are better antennas if you want to invest a little more money. Example (Sirius XM Radio Marine Antenna). Hope this was a little helpful.

That's what I was afraid of. Thanks.

You should be able to control it using your phone with the Fusion link app though. Through the app your phone will show whatever is playing on Fusion deck.

Might as well just use XM app if I need to use the phone to change channels. Too bad Connext did not have a provision to add an XM source.

Bringing this old thread back to life! I just bought a fusion ms-ra70nsx and would love to see how you all mounted it! I’m at a loss for where to put it with the least amount of fabrication. It’s going into a 242L 2015.
