Hello everyone. I have a 2019 AR 195 I took apart the intake manifold to do the ribbon delete and it looks like the ribbon is built into the intake manifold. Can anyone advise?
It's a pretty snug fit so it does look that way. There is a rubber gasket around the ribbon that under no circumstances can you forget to remove. There is one tail of here on that happening and it destroyed the engine when it was sucked in. Take a 2" wood screw and screw it most of the way into the ribbon, then grab onto it with a pair of pliers and pull. It will take a little bit of force force, but it will come out.
No trust me really. I used to be an auto technician for 15 years. They changed it. I even bought the shop manual. Once you take the throttle body off the other piece doesn't come off. But that's okay. I cut it out. I put it all back together. I couldn't use the new Riva ring so let's hope everything works okay.
Interesting. Maybe the coast guard caught wind of us all removing ours and told Yamaha to step up their install game. Lol! Props to you for not taking no for an answer!
Wow, so it really is just a part of the entire intake manifold now? Am I seeing that right? At least it looks like there isn't any part number for the ribbon anymore.
Yes. After you remove the throttle body, the part that the throttle body bolts to is the actual manifold. I am sorry that I didn't take any pics. I should have. I had my phone right there. I think I was just so surprised, I was freaking out about what to do. Anyways, it worked out good for me. (I think. Testing on Wednesday)
Timely post as I'm making a list of "things to do" when I buy a 242X this coming winter. When you cut it out, how did you make sure not to get any little bits of metal into the intake? I would be terrified of that.
Does the 195 have a different engine than the 242X?
I took the boat out today. Definitely a difference from out of the hole and acceleration. Didn't really do much for my top end. Still only getting 42 on the lie o meter. I think my phone GPS showed 42.8. Anyways, to answer your question, I used my compressor and blew the intake out for over 15 minutes with a visual inspection to make sure there was no metal left inside. As far as a different engine then a 242X? I am not sure. Maybe some one else can chime in on that one. Also, being that I had to cut the Ribbon out, I probably wouldn't do it again.
Thanks! I plan to do a lot of tubing/skiing/surfing so I would think I would want all of the out of the hole acceleration I could get. When I was young a friend's family had a small boat w/ an outboard that would struggle to get skiers up - I drank so much lake water! I know even a stock 242X will be night and day but thinking if the power is there and just needs to be unlocked.....
Thinking about the L13 cones too for cavitation reduction but may wait to see if I really need them.
I have the L 13 cone. Definitely gets rid of the cavitation. I think that might be why I am lost some top speed. I am going to play with the washers some more. If I must sacrifice one of the two, I would sacrifice the top speed. I hate the cavitation.

It’s a pain. Intake has to come out. Do not punch a hole through it, do it right and remove the throttle body and the leading spacer piece and then you just tug on the rubber gasket and the whole thing comes out. Replace with the Riva delete w the direction arrow pointing into the intake and you’re all set. Just takes time and patience to take it apart.
