Is there a big difference between the 2 or do they perform about the same?

I went with Cobra because they're metal. I liked the looks of the TVW better though. In the off season I think i'll have my Cobras powder coated.

thrustvector wakes are made with the intension of helping shape your wake for water sports, I think but not sure these have to be expoxied on,

The normal thrust vectors have a spring that moves them out of the jet during high speed to keep the "loose" jet boat feel.

Cobra's are steering only, I prefer mine locked down at all speeds for max control,

.

I use the Vipers on my 190. Very affordable and provide control at all speeds. I spray painted mine with rustoleum primer, paint and clear coat before install and they look great after two years of salt water use. Nice thing about these is they provide straight line tracking at all speeds and steering control coming off plane and for docking. Good luck with the boat!!

I read that post too but it wasn't talking about the vector wake just vector x so I didn't know if that made a big difference.

I realize not an AR195, but just installed Cobra on my 242X. Was about to spring for the TVW when I started reading about the Cobra's. I do like the look of the TVW's but not the epoxy part. Also the periodic report of hard steering at different speeds concerned me. What convinced me the most was the "always down" steering assist at all speeds and simplicity. I would really have liked to reduce jet spray and have better wake but I wasn't convinced TVW's have sufficiently accomplished that yet. But there are some out there that are very happy with their TVW's so I'm sure they are good as well. I come from many years of I/O prop boats and did not like the slippery feel or lack of control when spinning around to pick up a downed skier. My first day with my new setup and I'm very pleased with the results from the Cobra setup. No more zig zag to go from point A to point B, even with my wife driving! Quick turns and immediate response at all speeds is what I was hoping for and so far I am pleased with results. Costs less and adds the second steering rod is just another plus to that system IMHO.

Absolutely the best little gem i found for my 2020 AR190 was the cobra jet steering. It now steers so much better. Dont leave home without it! Cant believe that Yamaha doesn't put this on as a standard item right out of the factory.

Jeff has a patent on his cobras. Yamaha doesn’t have the rights to do it.
Love this question, both are great products and both companies offer great support. You’ll be happy which ever way you go. It’s like the ford vs Chevy debate, you pick and tell your buddies how awesome they are.
I went with the cobra after my research and I don’t even remember why. Jeff was super helpful in trying to figure out what some extra parts were, and after sending him pics he noticed some nuts on backwards, which I fixed.

Took my boat out for the first time today. I have the Cobras. I can’t imagine driving the boat with out the cobras dang. Back to rookie status driver

Great thread so far, thanks for starting. Ive operated my 2020 195s with no added steering for a year now. slow speed slither is just something I have dealt with. Thinking of adding the steering fins.
Here's my question, key purchasing point.... Does either one help with knocking down jetwash? improve surfability?
My biggest complaint on the boat is the amount of jetwash kicked back to the wakeboarders and tubers. have to be careful not to spray them too much.

I would like to know this as well. Have the same problem when towing a wakeboarder or tuber.

Agree. The jet wash is ROUGH on a tuber and isnt fun on a wakeboarder either. My kids get absolutely peppered with water in the face laying on the tube.

the super ultimate ak-19 deluxe has a plaining surface at the bottom of the opening where the jet exits the pump this plaining surface helps to clean the wake behind the boat as well as get the boat up on plane faster and help smooth out the ride in chop. this is the most popular system I have for the 2019 and newer 19 foot boats I also have a similar one for the 2015 to 2018 model 19 foot boats. This system also does not hang below the original rudder , it is spring loaded and provides steering assistance at all speeds and you choose the level of influence. Built from tempered aluminum and only 268.99 with free domestic priority mail.

Thank you CJS, when you say spring loaded, does that plate rise above the jet wash at speed?
How does it work to knock down the wash, and can you estimate a % reduction on average?

The plate is attached to the nozzle and above the water on plane by approximately an inch

Jet boats push the boat forward where props pull the boat.
Props are below the bottom of the boat but jet nozzles are above it and up above the water when on plane.
When a boat is on plane it is displacing water, that water rises up in the air behind the boat , the water exiting the jet nozzle is then influenced by this upward force and the jet stream exiting the nozzle is effected by this force pushing up on it.
The plate is just under the jet nozzle and it reduces the interference with the water exiting the nozzle with less upward force from the boat pushing on the jet propulsion stream and that means the water stream is not being deflected up so it won't go as far back behind the boat and pummel the tubers in the face,. Similar to trim when I want to soak my unsuspecting passengers behind my ski I simply aim the water up using the trim and they get soaked.
However you still need to use the correct length rope and have the tube inflated correctly when towing tubes.
With my steering systems greatly improving the handling of the boat during watersports you can use a longer rope and have serious control over the tube.
If you have ever seen the videos of me towing 5 people in 2 tubes tied together using a Yamaha P W C and driving with my feet or standing on the seat with my hands in the air it is to show you just how much control you get with my enhanced all time steering systems It's all about the steering control on plane.

thank you so much for the informative reply. Helps me understand the physics causing the jet wash spray.
