if you take out the snap in marine mat right behind the drivers seat you can tuck a Yeti 45 cooler in there perfectly. You can force it in with the snap in mat BUT is harder to get out.
The standard cooler that was with the boat is trash.

Good info to know, and I agree that the cooler the boat came with isn't good for much.

I think I'm leaning toward an Engel 45 over the Yeti 45 (I don't have either at the moment; if I already had a Yeti 45 I'd just keep using that.) The Engel 45 actually has a 48 quart volume wheras the Yeti 45 only has a 37quart volume--that's a substantial difference. The Engel is also $40 cheaper than the Yeti ($259 vs $299), though in the long run that shouldn't be a deciding factor. One minor downside of the Engel is that it weigh 3 pounds more than the Yeti (26lbs vs 23lbs).

It came with a standard cooler?

Do you think the Engel 45 fits better (a little less snug) than the yeti 45?
Height wise, yes the Engel should be less snug because it's not as tall but it will stick out a little more because it's wider. The Engel 45 is 27"w x 18"d x 14"h with a 48qt capacity and weighs 26 pounds. The Yeti 45 is 25-3/4"w x 16-1/8"d x 15-3/8"h with a 37qt capacity and weighs 23 pounds. So the Engel is 1-3/8" shorter. See the attached pics for the dimensions of the cooler spot, I took these back in September when I first got the boat because I knew I'd be spending the winter looking for a cooler to go in there! 20200915_185740.jpg20200915_185438.jpg20200915_185349.jpg

Here is the “model match” Engel 45 as prescribed by Yamaha...

The fitment sucks, but I'm pretty damn impressed so far with the Engel 45. 20 lbs bag of ice three days ago. It's almost still a 20 lbs bag of ice. I even keep the cooler inside the truck cabin to test it's moxy in higher temps. Finally started to melt today!

Also $229 on Amazon. WAY cheaper than direct or Yamaha $269 version... Because it says Yamaha... :D

I love the yeti and other sturdy coolers. But, I went with a “marine“ version of the Coleman 48q cooler. Fits perfectly, holds a lot, and I don’t need my ice to last more than 2 days max

<ADDED BY ADMIN - and only $30 at Home Depot?>

I went with a igloo marine 54 qt and it fits pretty good. Plenty of room and holds ice for the day, which is plenty for me as I don’t need it to last 5 days. Picked it up on sale for about $40 bucks if remember correctly, and is made in the USA.

Yeti 45 is a perfect fit, but need to swap grip feet for slide feet.

Did you still have to remove the marine mat even with the slide feet?

I removed it before I discovered the sliding feet. I would be confident you do not need to remove it.

looks like im buying a yeti 45 for the flush fit form and function factor. wish there were other cheaper options. i do not like those coleman coolers with my boat.
