Now that my old 2017 SX210 is gone, I figured I would start a build thread for my new boat, a 252SE. We had no intentions of spending this much on a boat, but here we are lol. Once we knew the SX210 was going, we stopped by the local dealer to see what they had in stock. 2 252SEs, 1 252SD and nothing else. Loved the size and how big it felt (that's what she said), so put a deposit down. They held it for a month while we got things wrapped up on the old boat.

We picked her up on the 13th and had the maiden voyage on the 14th. The boat is phenomenal, it handles chop light years better than the 210. I haven't gunned it yet but the engines feel like they want to fly. The extra room is tremendous and the 12" screen is very nice. Plan to get her back on the water this weekend. The one thing I missed immediately was the Cobra Jets, those will be an immediate addition.

We never named our old boat, so after much discussion me and my wife finally decided on "Nice Aft". I preferred "Going Propless" but Nice Aft seems to fit better in all aspects lol.

As a requirement of this forum, I have to make many modifications so I will keep that log here.

Plans so far:
Stereo Batteries
Battery Charger w/Plug
Cobra Jets
15% Tint
Custom Sea Dek w/ boat name
Upgraded Stereo
Stoltz Bow Roller
???

First up is the battery charger. I am using a Pro Mariner 3rd Gen 3 bank charger along with a NOCO plug port. Found a perfect spot in the port storage to mount the charger, with the batteries right on the other side in the engine bay. Next I lined up a hole for the plug to go, cutting into a 80k boat is not fun, but pretty straight forward.

Sounds like a great boat. Congrats. Send pics though.

Why did you trade up after only 4 years?

Cobras were very high on the list, a must have for any Yamaha owner IMO. Install was straight forward with no issues. Most difficult part was aligning the nozzles.

It wasn't a trade. Legally binded on what I can say so I will leave it at that lol. Working on getting some pictures. I am really bad about taking pics.

Where’s the portable potty going? ?

Where’s the portable potty going? ?

I will be getting one as emergency use only. When I charter the boat, it will be a $100 charge if someone wants to use it.

Nice boat skipper...

Something for others to consider when installing the AC power port. I installed mine on the interior of the boat, this way I could have it plugged in, put the cover on, and run the cord between the boat and cover (I store my boat in a garage). With plug installed on the outside, I‘d imagine it would be difficult to have a cover on and plugged in simultaneously. One major con of the interior plug is ensuring it’s unplugged prior to moving the boat for transport. I’ve also heard people mount on the exterior and mention a 90 degree electrical connection so that if the boat is moved when it’s still connected, it’ll disconnect “safely“. I would definitely consider mounting AC charger port on external of the boat if you utilize storing your boat dockside.

Awesome job with all your installs! They all look very clean and well organized. I am curious what you used for the cable management though. In your first picture with the charger, how did you attach them to the wall (what is holding zip tied wires to wall)? I’d like to do that with my cables.

The port is right where the velcro meets on the cover, I did it on my old boat as well. It works out very well for plugging in after cover is on.

Appreciate it, it is just a simple ziptie with a screw hole, like this: https://www.digikey.com/en/products...MI3b6x3L3O7wIVwpFbCh2RjAd7EAQYAiABEgLpQfD_BwE

It’s amazing the small stuff you learn here. I’ve never seen zip ties with a screw hole like that, thanks!
They're usually referred to as cable ties so you can zip them up then screw the zip-tie in place. I use them all the time for keeping wires tidy...I wish I invented them...I'd be rich!
:D

Some more updates:

I am stuck with the crappy cover for now until the premium cover comes in. I have issues with it covering the rear, so I put in some straps to secure down. Pretty ghetto rigged but it works great.

I planned to start running some power wire for the amps today. Turns out this boat is bigger than my 210 and I couldn’t use my 0 gauge runs. Add in that this door for the helm is smaller, it didn’t make much sense to put my amps there.

I decided to put them in the port side storage. The question was how. After a few minutes of investigating I came up with a solution. This would be an amp rack that slides down into a channel and is secured from the top. PVC board, an aluminum channel and some stainless screws, and the base of the rack is done. This will be carpeted in the final step but this was a great start.

I didn’t post this yet, but I also got the tower speakers mounted. Tested multiple locations but ended up in this location. Hope to get them wired this weekend.

and lastly for today’s update, I approved the final SeaDek layout. I hope to have that installed next week.

That area stayed dry on my old, and so far has stayed dry on this one, so it should be fine, plus the amps will sit back enough still.

Any tips for the wiring in tower?

so on top of the tower on the x members are some holes covered with fabric i did a wire loop so that when i fished the wire thru the front pipe i could pull it toward the x member once the wire went thru it , if it make sense?
