I am finalizing purchase of a heavier boat (27 feet length) to replace my Yamaha and am in the market for a trailer that can haul upto 10,000 pounds. I prefer a dual axle aluminum trailer with steel disc brakes. PM me if you are planning to sell your unused trailer.

Thanks
Amar

Before going the used route on this I would just go the route of getting a new custom ordered trailer before I picked up someone else headaches on this. They really are not that expensive versus trying to find a used one. I know others like @bronze_10 have even done this in replacing there Yamaha trailers.

I am hoping to find a new one here and I totally agree with you @robert843

Have you checked your local craigslist ads? I often see new trailers advertised in the boat section usually because the owner has decided to keep his boat in the water or at a botel.

Thanks Nick

I bought a loadrite trailer the spring of last year. Its an aluminum ibeam trailer... tortion axles, leds, 4x4 main bunks, after market rims, radial tires, surge breaks on the front with a folding tounge. Its a 6k pound rated trailer. I got it for 3k...

When it came in i was amazed at how robust this thing was compaired to the 6000 pound mfi trailer... not even the same trailer... i think they make all trailers for heavey loads to a point and just rate them for what you want. It has been a blessing and is a dream to pull... best thing i did seeing as we were going to be towing a lot.

The mfi had sat in the weather without the boat on it from 08 till 2015. It was low mileage but needed a lot of work.. tires brakes bunks lights winch. We decided to replace instead of slinging money into it. Have never regreted it.

Tried no luck so far. I might get it made.

I think what you are looking for is on the range of 4K to 5K from Panama city FL. I had one priced for in April before the Bimini trip.

That's the range I am expecting and seeing outside @Betik
Some have even quoted close to 7k.

I just wanna see the boat! My wife and I may want to check it out if you come to bimin!

Planning for Bimini in 2018. We love it. Mainly changing the boat for family to enjoy the crossing in 2018. The Yamaha is too rough on them (it might mostly be my driving).

the minivan you are buying will not make a significant difference in those conditions. The princesses will not be comfortable. Remember what happened to the "big" boats trying to cross with us. One had to be towed back and another was being repaired while en route.

BTW, if you want a trailer for 10,000lbs, does that mean that you are changing your truck too ?

BTW, If you end up buying a custom trailer in the Florida panhandle, I might be able to pick it up for you and bring it north since I am going to pick my tower in PA anyway.

Hi @Betik I agree with what you say. I would prefer a Yamaha for the crossing any day as I know the pounding it took for the crossing and came out safe at the end. This decision was not just about the Bimini crossing. There were a lot of factors in this decision.

1. I boat by myself a lot and I love exploring new places. The Yamaha is limiting my time from morning till evening. With an express cruiser I can stay overnight in strange places/islands and continue boating in that area the next day. One of my plans early next year is to take my boat to Florida and the Keys for a week and go camping and boating and exploring the keys by myself. Another option is the Chesapeake bay. There are a bunch of islands that I can explore.

2. My family is more comfortable with a heavier boat (having experienced it on a friends boat) and they would be more amenable to take weekend trips with me.

3. If the crossing is predicted to be as rough for next year as this year I will simply fly them into Bimini. No sense in risking my family safety.

4. I will be paying for a brand new trailer anyway. A 1-2k more will get me a better load capacity trailer so that in future if I want to get a bigger boat I don't have to worry about buying another trailer. It will also be less wear and tear on the trailer to carry a lower weight boat. I plan to change my truck in 2 years time and I will get an F250 that time. If I hate the boats I buy now I will definitely change it in a couple of years.

My plan is Bimini 2018, Exumas 2019 or 2020 and before I retire the whole world (we all can dream :) ) So I figure it's time I start getting used to bigger boats :)

Thanks @Betik Let me know when you are planning to come. I would definitely want you to come over to my place (as it is on the way) and be my guest and stay at my place.

actually it is 23 hour trip for me, and my goal is to make a round trip in 48 hours or less. including fuel, restroom brakes and loading the tower. No sleeping overnight anywhere. Just drive drive so I can spend Christmas with the kids.

Hi @swatski As soon as the inspection is done and everything is signed off I will post pictures with the details. It is an express cruiser. I don't want to jink it.

Cheers
Amar

We actually look at them often even though the price is prohibiting for the ones we like. We do lake michigan as much as possible, have friends north of chicago, friends in michigan, and we usually launch in portage. We would love to do weekend trips on the water up to various places along michigan but then also be able to tow to various lakes meaning i prefer 8'6" beam and i would prefer to keep it less than 30'. We like some of the stuff from regal but we don't want the prop just yet
