hit up the Getaway(gandy) via boat for the first time last Saturday. loved it. marine forecast says bay waters are going to be "smooth" again this weekend, so I think we are going to make the nice ride from Safety Harbor to the Getaway again.

There's always children playing at that sandbar (along with adults and their dogs). It's a very popular place. It's a very long bar. Be sure to ride the length of it to get to know it. It is all apart of Weedon Island. Riviera Bay is a great place for water sports. All these sandbars are covered in water when the tide is high. Let me know when you're going. Maybe we can hookup.
I'm going out this weekend, no idea where. May not go in the water, but looking for a lunch place. Leaving from MacDill, so the Gulf locations will be out of reach for me.

I just read what I wrote, I am going in the water, but not going into the Gulf, staying bayside. I just looked at this weekend's events:
Downtown Tampa has St Patty's day - I don't want green dye on the boat's hull
St Pete has the Grand Prix race - added traffic with limited slips for boats

Yes, easy if you're on the outside of the dock. Sometimes they have dock hands to help. Used to go there all the time (by boat) when I lived in Clearwater.
I am at John's Pass pretty often. On a busy day at the sandbar, it will no doubt test your reverse skills as the current rips through the pass. Gators isn't too bad but can easily become difficult, but their new docks are really nice. Gators has great food too.
We're thinking about going out this weekend, tbd on where. There's supposedly some event out at Bunce's Pass sandbar as well, might go there or maybe just to Beer Can, anybody going somewhere similar?
