Anclote Sand Bar

There’s a marina or boat seller that goes out there and occupies the sandbar. In turn, it brings in a lot of traffic. Last year, we stayed on the north side of the pass, which has a pretty steep drop off from the shoreline.

The weather is forecast to be nice, it’ll be one of the first nice weekend for the season so I’m betting everyone is prepping to head out

We're thinking about going out this weekend, tbd on where. There's supposedly some event out at Bunce's Pass sandbar as well, might go there or maybe just to Beer Can, anybody going somewhere similar?

Seems that way. Been trying to get out early in the year to get comfortable with the boat before things get busy. Underway things are good - docking/anchoring is still a work in progress lol.

Well around those parts in the summer we are coming off the trailer at 9- 930 to get a good spot on the beach and not have to snorkel into shore

I gotcha. Where do you launch from? Ours is stored down in Ruskin so beer can is about 30 min including no wake. Egmont about 45. Haven’t ventured up to Anclote and the like yet.

I store my up here in Tarpon Springs

Winds are below 10 for the whole weekend. Should be beautiful. Hoping gas prices start to drop as they're predicting sub $2 for the summer. (??) IDK but keeping (all) my fingers and toes (if I could) crossed. :)

MIL's birthday is Sunday so that'll be winery day or else I'd likely be doing both days.

We have beautiful sandbars here in Riviera Bay. Don't need to go far. And, they get packed. We typically got out late afternoon and grab dinner or we bring the dogs to the sandbar.

I think we're going out in the morning, playing around the bay and ending up at the Getaway, may go back to the Riviera Bay.

I am not a fan of Bunces. The environment changes every year based on storms and is extremely shallow. Add in a ton of people (which means of alot of idiots), it's a perfect storm for disaster. Last I heard the south island is completely blocked off now.

So, everyone still going out this weekend while the world’s going nuts?

Yup, we are going out to Caddy’s early then checking out GulfPort

I might just hit Bunces Pass tomorrow. Who will be there?

I think we’re gonna give it a shot. Probably mosey out around 11. If the waves are too rough then audible towards beer can. So far the weather is showing like it should be great though. I’m also banking on the idea that the crowd might be a little thinned out due to the virus.

It'll be in the afternoon. I'll keep an eye out.

Man, what a zoo out there today. We anchored across the pass, there was zero space on the sand bar by the time we got out there. It was a great day out though, headed back in around 5. Only gripe would be some of the boats that would just fly through the pass. Bent one of my thrust vectors when backing up into the shore, but it’s an easy fix - just gotta do it before Friday. I’d post some photos of the day but that’s the wife’s department lol.

I was there. Got there around 3 and stayed till 5:15. We went to the crazy side. It was fun. Took our Bernese Mountain Dog with us. He loved it. Stopped at the Nepa Hut Beach Bar for dinner. I'll post some pic tomorrow. Maybe we can meet next time.

Sounds good!

yeah we actually went to caddy’s at Indian shores first (before someone used the dock as a launch pad) and then gulf port, which has a strip of bars. Gulf Port feels like a tiny Key west to me.

about an hour after Indian shores we left our friends mom posted this
