Guest, we are pleased to announce that Hydrophase Ridesteady is offering an extra $100 off for JETBOATERS.NET members on any Ridesteady for Yamaha Speed Control system purchased through March 7th, 2025. Ridesteady is a speed control system (“cruise control”) that uses GPS satellites or engine RPM to keep your boat at the set speed you choose. On twin engine boats, it will also automatically synchronize your engines.
Guys...It was a joke. I owned a 19 footer for years and now own a 21 footer. My brother told me the same thing when I was boat shopping and Luckily, I found a great used 210 and I don't have to tow it much or far. Have fun with the AR 195!
I completely understand as a common saying on the forum when someone is considering buying a boat is to “buy your second boat first”. Down the road I see us upgrading as the the kids get older, however the 195 is a great fit for now and most important gets us on the water creating those family memories.

It went great and she came home with me and fits in the garage without removing the washer to lower the tower to the wheel. 30k down 103.05 a month which includes boat and 1700 in accessories such as Yamaha cover towable, 3 person tube and rope, bumpers etc.
Also picked up the fuel additive per dealer recommendation.
The bow weight is where you'll see the biggest speed loss impact since more hull (drag) will be in the water. It's not a lot of speed loss though but I'd put the lightest people in your crew up there.
Edit - I see you brought her home! Congrats and that new cockpit sure does open up some room. You'll love it and hope you create awesome memories this season!
Congrats on the purchase. You will enjoy it. We picked up a 2019 SX195 this past September. Our situation was similar. It is our first boat and we wanted something that fit in the garage. As our first foray into boats, we wanted to see how this fits into our lifestyle before making an even bigger financial commitment. We typically have 4 people (me, wife, and kids) plus a large dog, but have had as many as 8. Size-wise, the 19 footer has been plenty comfortable and I really enjoy the performance provided by that supercharger. It has provided for many happy family memories, with more to come.
That said, my home lake is very large reservoir and it can get pretty big out there. We've been out in some pretty big water and while the 19 footer has handled it, I am sure it would be more comfortable in a bigger boat. Thus, while the 19 footer is plenty comfortable from a space perspective, I can see the benefits of the 24 (or 27!) on big water. As it is now, I watch the weather closely and if its too windy, we stay home. With a bigger boat, this may be less of a consideration. All in all, I would not have made a different decision given the circumstances, but before getting a boat I did not have as much of an appreciation for this.
I hope you enjoy your boat as much as we have been enjoying ours. Get out there and make some memories!
If you can swing a trip to Powell this summer or early fall it will be well worth your time. We usually tent camp on the shore but if you prefer more comfort there’s a hotel at Wahweap or several in Page.
Get what fits your family and needs. Don't worry about the 21 footers. If this is your budget, it's a great boat, in fact the Yamaha 19 footers are just a hair shy of 20 feet. If you feel after a season or five that you want to go bigger, the Yamahas hold their value very well and you'll be able to step up then. Enjoy! It's a friggin boat!!!
Nice that tower definetely goes lower than the stock 2018 model. Also what is the fuel additive for? I have not used any additives not sure if I need to.

I bought my boat from the same dealer and was recommended the same fuel treatment. It’s Yamaha Engine Med RX. Supposed to help with carbon buildup and protects engine components from ethanol fuels. I don’t know if it’s real or a gimmick but I’m using it. Here’s a link to it.

I will be starting my 2nd year with my AR195. Still have zero desire for a bigger boat. The size and performance were why I choose the 195 in the first place. I did buy both lateral and thrust vectors, new endurance 15inch rims & tires and new bow roller. Going to get a suction oil extrator and electric water pump to do the winterizing. Love the space and performance but was not crazy about the steering response hence the upgrades which will be installed this upcoming week. If the size is good enough you’ll enjoy the boat for many years.
I came from a 16 ft Scarab and loved the quick turning and sporty feel. I lost some of that on the AR195, but it's still worth it for the additional space. I definetely am not interested in going any bigger though personally. It's just like if you prefer a sports car vs SUV. Both have pros/cons it all depends on preference.

The dealer said to use it, it’s 25 per bottle which has about 5 tanks of gas worth.. something about carbon build up at high hours on engine are greatly reduced.
