Heading out that way tomorrow. Staying in Manhattan Beach. My 18 year old daughter wanted to go to LA and surrounding area for her 18th birthday / Graduation Trip. Looking for any recommendations on places to eat and fun things to do. She has a few things she already wants to do. Will be there until July 14th.

Thanks @SuperJetDan. See you are in Prescott Valley. I lived in Prescott from 86-89. Loved it and miss it. Beautiful area. My boat came from the Yamaha dealer in Prescott Valley.

Yes, bought from the owner. Rob if I remember correctly. Bought the boat used in 2011 with only 70 hrs and immaculate condition. He treated me very well! Wish he was not so far away. Liked doing business with him.

Thanks @andy07sx230ho. Had seen the reports. Good thing I am not a big saltwater person as far as swimming. Don't like snakes or sharks. The way I look at it, if I meet up with a shark, I am in his element and I am out of mine. Not a good situation.

Yep it's Rob, I actually just talked to him this morning, I am running over to pick up a jet ski trailer from him today.
Tell him I said hello and have been very happy with the boat he sold me. That is, if he remembers me. Been three years. He might. Don't know how many boats he sells to people in Texas.

My grandkids were in the water right there when that happened!! They were more excited about the Lifeguard boats coming close to shore to tell everyone to get out of the water over the loudspeaker.

Manhattan, Hermosa, Redondo all kinda blends together along the south bay coast. There are a ton of things to do, places to eat, etc.

She's 18 so I have a hunch you may travel a few miles north up to Venice beach. If you do, you'll see some interesting sights. I'll leave it at that.

There are some neat (expensive) little shops in downtown Manhattan Beach : http://metloxmb.com/
My wife loves going there to spend money. Manhattan is quiet, laid back and mostly residential up above the beach. Along Pacific Coast Hwy there are stores and such. The Manhattan Mall is small, but good.

There is a Comedy & Magic Club in Hermosa by the pier that is pretty good: http://comedyandmagicclub.com/index.cfm
Leno is there every Sunday. I usually hit the sushi joint and Coldstone Creamery afterwards...nothing like raw fish and ice cream to finish off a good day of roasting in the sun.

You can check out the volleyball on-line: http://www.hermosawave.net/webcam/
That's just north of the pier in Hermosa.

The Redondo Pier area is fun to check out, more shops and restaurants. You can take a whale watching boat out of Redondo Harbor

Thanks for the information @Glassman Arrived today at 5:30pm. Met up with wife and daughter. Ate dinner at Mama D's down by Manhattan Beach Pier. Awesome Italian Food!!! Can't remember last time I had Italian that good.

We go to Mama D's every once and a while. It can get pretty busy. Great place for birthdays. Fritto Misto is good eyetalian too.

You should try The Kettle, that and Sloopy's are great for lunch. And for breakfast, the Local Yolk and Uncle Bill's Pancake House (no frills and cheap!) will give you a taste of the local atmosphere. Plenty of good restaurants in Manhattan.

Ya know, the Stanley Cup might still be around...most of the Kings live around there and they drag it into the local bars, they hang at a place called the North End...used to be Critters:
http://www.northendbar.com/ Your daughter can go since it's technically a restaurant and the food is pretty good.

And if you want to hang with the real Kings fans you go on over to Gasser's in Redondo on Aviation, don't knock over any Harleys on your way in, one might belong to my daughter!

There's a small golf course just to the north of you: http://www.golfthelakes.com/ just in case you want to hit some balls.

Other than that, it's fun to get a bike and just cruise the Strand....You can go for miles in both directions. If you are adventurous you can ride all the way north to Santa Monica on the bike path. You'll go through Marina del Rey and Venice. The weather has been pretty good lately, you should have a blast!
