I'm still breaking in my engine on the 195 HOI have about 9 hrs and can get to 8k RPMS. With the Bimini top and calm waters I'm reaching about 45mph. I've been using 93 octane premium gas and this additive Starbright (I think thats it my dad bought it). My question is do you think with the premium gas and the additive I'm getting better performance outta the engine or is anyone else just using reg gas, no additive and has the same results. The dealer told me I would not break 30 mph until 10 hrs so I am just wondering if it's what I'm using.

@Scarabsteve 8K RPM is max on the 250Rotax. Thats about as fast as she will go. To be honest, if your going to use regular 10% ethanol fuel, just fill it up with 87 octane. It makes no difference in performance at all. I used the Starbright fuel treatment before, but I use Stabil Marine on every fill up.

Also as far as break in... after 8-9 hours you will get full speed. Then at 25 hours you will get a "maintenance needed" engine light and display. Go to the dealer, and have them do the maintenance. If they forget to reset the light you can do it by pressing the "select" and "mode" buttons simultaneously while the key on acc until the light clears.

Have fun!

The Marinemax dealer told me 9k RPMS and she will max out at 50mph and to come back at 20 hrs for maintance. So was he full of it?

He was full of it. Max RPM is 8k. This boat maxes out at 45-46mph. Heck the 215 only does about 51-53 with twin 250's.

Also, part of your break in is run at max rpm for about 5 min, then slow down to 5k. Dont ever max the rpm for an extended period of time.

Totally do not waste your money on premium fuel, the engine is set to run on regular fuel from the gas pump I add injector cleaner every month but I put hundreds of hours on my engines in a season so the fuel isn't sitting in the tank very long.
Based on the time you run Stabil as suggested would be a better way to spend the money rather than high octane fuel. remember the higher the octane the slower the fuel burns and the more advance you need on the timing , therefore you do not gain anything from the higher octane other than it not dropping down too low when it sits.

Hey ! Great incredible weekend we are all enjoying !

Well I have tried it with non-ethanol 90 octane, had most of my problems. 87 octane 10% ethanol pump gas, and 93 octane 10% ethanol pump gas all with Stabil Marine at every fill up, and my 165 HO runs the best and smother on 93 pump gas, and she loves it, So for me its 93 octane pump gas or nothing.

I find non-ethanol 91 octane like Shell works good. I never think of running 89 octane in high rpm engines.

I use starton fuel stabilizer it doesn't have a self life. My old school fuel additive is marvels mystery oil.
