Apple Watch & Fusion/Connext Volume Control

The most common thing for folks to do is actually connect their phone to the head unit. As that was where the music source is. From there, the watch will adjust the volume of the phone, which in turn changes the volume of the head unit.

Things are integrated so much, many forget what they are actually controlling and come to find, the watch is controlling the phone. Now with fusion products, you can just allow your phone to bluetooth connect and let the head unit stream your source of choice on your phone. Or you can run the fusion link app on IOS and Android. At that time, you may not have control of the fusion link app with your apple watch. So try it without running fusion and with to be sure.

Otherwise, the only watch app is Fusion link lite for Garmin watches. Let us know if that is what you are actually running.

So that's interesting - I wonder if I use the USB input for music, would that bypass the "set to max" volume on my iphone/watch?

Possible. I did note doing my Apple updates last night that Fusion updated their Fusion Link app. They mention, "support media control and Over-the Air firmware updates for the MS-RA60, plus general bug fixes"

Time to go update the stereo to then!

Well, I went out and tested this just now.

Yup, confirmed, no physical volume control from a BT connected IOS device other than through the fusion link app. This was confirmed when just BT connected, and after launching the Fusion Link app.

That should be the same if it were an iPhone, iPad or apple watch as they have similar BT properties.

Bummer. Time to velcro one of the $50 Fusion remotes to your life vest.

I’m hoping this is an issue that will get addressed and not an intentional feature to force more usage of their app.

Not sure, but one thing I noted when fishing last night on my swimdeck. Is when I left the silicone cover off the remote, I would bump the volume knob, which switches zones.

There is a chance that they don't use external volume for that reason, as it would only work for the last zone chosen. Not sure. I found myself throwing the cover back on when just sitting there, as it was too easy to bump.

I will give fusion credit though, I do love how it works and the NMEA remote is money with the duplicate display of the head unit. As my buddy and I were enjoying the XM channel mix feature, we were playing name that tune, and it was nice to have the display handy.

Good luck guys!
