New boat2.jpg
Got my co-pilot up front and new co-pilot in training in the back. Getting the windows tinted tomorrow!!! Will post pics of that. Got a new bow roller and bow shield this week too. I will paint the bow shield black and post pics of that, as well.

I've thought about tinting mine quite a bit. I've never done tinting before and am worried about trying to get the rounded part of the windshield done nicely. I look forward to seeing yours. Please share any install tips with those photos!

On the contour of that glass, youll want someone to do it for you. If youve never tried to install tint before, youll be starting on the most challenging piece possible haha. I am gladly paying someone to do mine. It is a true talent that I do not have.

Yep, even my tint guy said he would "prefer" not doing boats. He has had a few with pretty good curves not turn out so well.

With that said, I did a little research and it seems some of the cling on tint which is thicker, apparently isn't too bad putting on yourself. Again, I only read this on another boating forum. It's relatively cheap and I may give it a shot before paying someone to "possibly" do a better job.

Luckily tint isn't terribly expensive to try yourself. I tried my last boat and it looked badass for one trip until it got really hot and started bubbling and peeling off.

Im getting 5%

If you are going to paint, check around and see if someone can powder coat it. I think it might be a little more durable although if you paint it then you can easily touch it up...

Tint is going on as we speak (text?)

@Englewoodcowboy I have a buddy that will Line-X it for free. Im going to prep it and send it to him. Should hold up pretty good.

I would not Line-X. It is a rough texture and it will be glossy at first but the first tim you bump the roller it will dull its contact points. I would think a smooth texture is best for that, which is why I suggested the powder coating. I am using a similar product to Line-X for my Bronco I am restoring and I can smooth the texture down some but not to what I would think would hold up to the roller. On the bright side, any urethane type coating if you get it smoothened it does dull on the wear points, you can take a heat gun and hit the areas and it will gloss back up.

Here is a friend of mine with Line-X that is peeling off... this is why I do not like the stuff, once it lifts it comes off.

Its all due to bad prep. You HAVE to prep the surface in order for it to stick properly. Like paint. But yes, it will peel right off if it starts. I figure Ill try it for free and if it doesnt stick or look good, Ill sandblast it and powdercoat it. I have friends that do all this and it will all be free so I will be the guinea pig!

All my friends are computer nerds. One of them makes pretty good beer that I get for free sometimes, but other than that, I think I need new friends with skills that I can capitalize on...

@d_coyne1984, you must be like me and have a lot more "friends" during the summer that want to use your boat haha

@skbishop90 did you get the windows tinted yet? I am thinking about that on mine but not sure how it will look...

I didnt get a side view yet. I may not get it out until two weeks but Ill post a side view as soon as I can. He scratched the side window and is buying me a new one. Not a huge deal to me since hes buying a new one and doing all this for free now. He stands behind his work. But, I did ask for 5% and he did 15% because he didnt have enough 5%. Kinda of upset about that because I wish he would have notified me before hand...but either way. Cant complain with free! Plus the scratches arent even that bad.image1 (1).JPG

That doesnt look bad at all. I would be afraid of too dark, just being able to see through it at night or something but most of the time I am looking over my windshield unless I was ducking buhind it in the rain or something...
