Bad Ground? Interference?

New stereo (head unit, speakers, amp, and wiring). Everything sounds great, when the boat is off.. when I start the blower or run the engine I get loud interference through all the speakers. I've looked around and it's possibly the ground? I have it running to a negative terminal on the battery. Could the connection just be bad?

I would filter the hu power wire first. You can get inexpensive noise filters, basically an inductor (big coil of wire). They work well. Pretty hard to improve a ground that is connected at the battery terminal. Cam

Got the loud noise figured out. The head unitground was getting a bad connection. I ran an 8 gauge from the head unit ground to the negative terminal of the battery. Problem solved.

Now, I still get some white noise when no music is on. I may try one of those filters.

White noise wgennothing is playing is usually the audio source (Preamp of the head unit) being amplified and is normal particularly with bluetooth selected as the input.
