Funny video but very true

I do not know if it is just some of the people around here, ya probably is...but why does it take longer to launch/land a jet ski than my ar230? I have been stuck behind more than a few. It can not be that difficult. Maybe a minute at the ramp and a few at the dock as I park/get the truck.

Much easier to launch a jet ski, they should be in and out quickly - but most of the idiots out here in Arizona buy new skis, have no clue about anything, worse on the lake when the cut in front of you.

I love it...and the true reason I wet slip for the season...I'm terrible at backing up!

Great video. Now where can I get one of those etiquette shovels? They're probably back ordered.

If I don't have a shovel do you think I could use a spade? (If only :D)

I was at the boat dock yesterday. Smooth as silk. Everyone dropping in and walking there boat over to the dock to tie. Then moving their truck out of the way. Must have been a luck day for me. Normally it is just the holidays around here that get silly!

I'm in and out of the way in less than five minutes. Only had a problem once when some guy was whining that I was in the ramp he likes. I told him I like it too. That's why I was in it. He asked how long I was going to be there. I said as long as it takes. I got my truck, retrieved my boat and was out in less than five. He was in the next ramp yelling at his wife about how long it was taking her to load her stuff from the truck to their boat. In the ramp. Why do some people turn into such impatient, self absorbed assholes at the ramps? We hear couples yelling at each other and at other boaters. I can understand the frustration of people dilly dallying but damn, chill out a little.

my wife backs the trailer in for launch and recovery... there was a time where i would yell out little tips from the boat.. not fussing just trying to help.... one day she stops the truck with the boat halfway in the ramp gets out of the truck looks at me and says...... shut up!!!! then gets back in the truck and continues.... boat ramp full of people.... all i could say was, Yes Maam and sit down... lol

Funny video but true. I think I could spend all day at a busy boat ramp at the start of the season and just people watch. My favorite are first timers with 100k plus boats no fenders and watching them ram the dock. Once I saw a guy forget his safety chain and watched the entire boat come of the trailer as he was pulling it out of the water.

That video is the perfect way to get the message across in todays culture.

Last summer I was headed in to retrieve the boat, as I came into the area of the ramp there was a double ski trailer backed into the water taking up over half the ramp. One ski was tied to the dock on the ramp side about 6 feet from the trailer, the other one was being man handled in the water around the trailer trying to get it on.

I docked the boat on the opposite side of the ramp, it's a long dock that really isn't close enough to the ramp to walk a boat into a trailer, it's just close to the ramp, I got out and walked to the parking lot got my truck and got ready to back down the ramp thinking they would be done by then. They still didn't have the first one on the trailer:-/

So I backed down beside them, went over and got the boat and drove up on the trailer, as I finished tightening the winch the one guy said "man, you did that quick...and by yourself!".
I told him I had a lot of practice and asked if they needed help, "nah, we'll get it eventually".

My wife asked me when I got in the truck why it was taking them so long to load jetskis. I have no idea

ROFL

Well last summer you must have been in Vermont. Ditto, one of my observations was exactly as you described.

I think they should fine people who load and hangout at the ramp. I would definetly excuse those backing down as it can be intimidating.

When i first started boating after getting married in Rhode Island many, many years ago my wife asked me why there was so many people set up in folding beach chairs on the grassy hill overlooking the boat ramp.
Told her is was to watch the comedy and action show that happens every day at a busy boat ramp.
She never got it till she witnessed it herself then she understood completely.
