Bunk Board Carpet....Best place to buy

Thanks @MikeyL I emailed him.
He is busy and a kinda no nonsense guy. But his products are outstanding.
Both quality and price-wise. Good Luck ! Mikey Lulejian - Lake Oconee, GA

He alreday emailed me back. I wanted a length not in a auction and he said no problem.

I searched for a whole season for bunk carpet, looking at grades, thread count etc. Most true bunk carpet was quite expensive and to me looked and felt like poor quality, even the supposed top grade stuff. Home depot had great marine olefin carpet in a tasteful dark grey for cheap. I glued a top carpet strip on the bunks and then wrapped them in the carpet using galvanized staples. Stainless staples were hard to find for my air stapler and the OEM bunks used galvanized which lasted fine. I used regular #1 grade pine since treated wood is such low quality, and treated them with thompsons water seal. I sealed the lag bolts with 4200. The bunks turned out very nice. Soaked in a few coats of silicone spray and I am ready for the season. I did this right at the end of last season. When installing the lag bolts I put them in semi-tight at first and then once the boat was loaded and the bunks were weighted down I then re-re ed them with the 4200 to final tightness. Too much info I know. Cam.

I ended up going thru the carpet sales guy that @MikeyL suggested on Ebay. Great price and excellent turn around with communication. I will let everyone know when I get the carpet in what I think of it.

Glad this looks like it will turn out great for you. He and his products have been nothing short of Amazing, for:
- Quality of Product,
- Pricing and
- Delivery
Continued good luck to you. Mikey Lulejian - Lake Oconee, GA

@jcyamaharider Do you remember how long it took for the shipping? I wonder if I could have it by this weekend.

It was a week for shipping. Great carpet!! Looks good on the trailer.

I bought carpet from the same guy and carpeted my UBB (ultimate bunk boards) with stainless steel staples and bolts. After a season of use everything is holding nicely. I think I have a link to my install in my mod list link in my sig. The only thing I don't like about the UBBs is that they don't have as much contact with the hull as the wood bunks did. I don't know how many inches less of support but so far it hasn't been an issue.

For those reading this thread for the 1st time, I thought maybe we outta RE-POST where exactly to purchase your bunk board carpeting.
Here goes:

Here is THE seller of boat carpeting.
He is like the on-line guru. Lives and sells outta Dalton, GA, which as many of you may know, is THE CARPET CAPITOL of the USA.
He has all kinds of "marine carpeting."
His eBAY user name is even: "
Boatcarpetsales"

Rather than try and choose what you might want, I am listing here his "Ebay store."
That way, you can see all that he offers.

I have purchased from him several times for bunk carpeting, and I can assure you two things:
1) You'll be VERY pleased with his merchandise and
2) You will not touch his price elsewhere.

Hope this helps many of y'all ...... Mikey Lulejian - Lake Oconee, GA

Thanks @MikeyL. I plan to order the carpet soon and install towards the end of the season. Do you have a good source for stainless staples?

I don;t have immediate access to my boat. Does anyone know a safe size (length and width) of carpet to redo the bunks on a MFI Trailer from a 2011 AR240? I am not afraid to buy more than I need, but don't want to come up short.

Don't spend a lot of money and time on this.... for about $24 dollars you can get the best carpet for the application at Home Depot. Dayside Ebony-THS sku#423714 Product # 6670-890. It is olefin and UV resistant. It is heavy enough for the bunks yet light enough for folding at the end of the boards.

I don't trailer my boat so it makes easy pickings for the squirrels I am guessing to eat the carpet off of my boards. I have not tried these but read a lot about them. I will probably get some this winter and install next year.

Anyone else hear of these or tried them?

Or these..or I am sure many more...

I wouldn't recommend the UBB's ultimatebunkboards. Many including myself had what I will call chalking issues where the gelcoat starts to come off due to the rubbing action of the hard surface of the UBB on the underside of the boat. I carpeted mine.
