Can the cylinder head be removed from the 1.8l engines without removing the engine from the boat?

These engines look a little easier to work on than the MR-1s. The components seem more accessible. I appreciate the information.

It is possible but not easy. The front timing cover and chain needs to be removed to get the head off so removal which seems harder can make it easier in the long run.

I get guys at work trying to do head gasket work in car on older 4 cylinder Toyotas. I can have the engine on a stand in 1/2 hour on average.

To add to what @Neutron said...working on engines in a boat is even worse. Upholstery to protect and constantly reaching and twisting down into the engine compartment. Never-mind having to get in and out of the boat every time you need a different tool. I say just pull the engine.

Thanks @the MfM. I only have experience with the MR-1. Removing it was the only option.

@WREKS just a tip...If you are trying to "tag" someone, do not put a space between the @ and the members handle. Once posted it will become highlighted and the member will recieve a notification. If you did not want to notify the member in your above post, then nevermind what I said. If you edit the space out, you will notify @the MfM .
