Hi all, I just bought a 2022 AR250 I love the boat but I hate the small screen. Yamaha did a horrible job there by leaving the enclosure of the 12” LCD BUT using the 4”. Have anyone upgraded the 4” to the 12”?

I haven’t looked any further than the price That put a halt to my desire to upgrade. I think the bigger screen was around $3200 if I remember right.

Doubt very much they are compatible

Is it plug and play? Link where you found it?

Following! Trying to find all options!? Upgrade? Is it possible? Rip it out and put something new? Garmin or simrad mounting options?

Hi did you figure out if you can upgrade?

would be nice but I haven't looked into it.....I think the 12" connext screen comes on the wake boats/upper trim models . there's alot more controls that go through Connext than on the base SX/AR 250 models so I'm thinking it's not plug and play. I did see a post of someone mentioning modifying the connext screen holder and move connext all the way to oneside and than installing a 6" or 7" garmin chart plotter/fish finder next to it. that would be nice.

I did take that assembly part one and time and wish i would have taken pictures.

I'm sorry, but Garmin, Simrad, or other chart plotters will not work with Yamaha boats. They work with Yamaha outboard engines as they are compatible with NEMA and J1939, but Yamaha boats and Wave Runners are not. If you have gauges, some clever people have figured out a workaround, but it's a bit of work. See 2013 Yamaha jet boat nmea 2k upgrade

Here are a few people that did that with pictures

yes, all options but I was talking about mounting the chartplotter in the extra space on the connext floating helm (since the base models comes with the smaller connext screen, you have alot of extra space in floating helm). would work well if one could move the connext all the way to the left, and then install a ~6" charter plotter next to it on the floating helm. that way you don't' have to mess with Ram mounts. see ph oto for reference. I ended up with a Garmin 86sci satellite communitor with maps as a backup. works good. having sonar is always nice though.

I’ve never seen anyone do that and it seems like it would be quite a bit of work, but it would be a nice option. I really wish Yamaha would follow standard protocols so we could use other devices. Your set up looks great and is very functional.

yup, not having NEMA compabaility really sucks.

I actuallythink if you were handy with a 3D printer, might not be too bad to add a small chartplotter to the floating helm. when i took that apart, I seem to remember alot of room in there.

There is a guy who did just that, but while I have a picture of it that I downloaded, I can't find his post on Jetboaters.net. He was planning to get some built to sell, but I've not heard back from him.
