Considering a move to TN

We live on the east side of the Nashville area and have access to a nice lake within 10 min (Percy Priest), which is good for getting out regularly, and also 45 min from Center Hill. But I agree about the Knoxville area - we love to vacation at Norris Lake, which is huge, clear and deep. Lots of great memories on that lake. TN is a great place, so bring your tax money and upgrade your boat!

I like the Norris Lake region, so far the east end of the state is winning my vote!

Without getting too off track into politics......How do we get a libertarian candidate that can actually represent the party in a favorable light. The last few that have made it to the public stage have been yaywho's and can't get any traction. We need a good personable face that's well spoken to stand up in front of people and be a national face for the party........Maybe I should run?

We live in northern KY. Ohio River not great to boat on. We travel the 3 hrs to Norris several times a summer. We will have a home there one day. Love it and enjoy hanging out in Knoxville some evenings.
We live in Cincinnati, and I do boat on the Ohio fairly often, but try to get to Norris as much as possible.

I lived in the Tri cities area a while ago and loved it. If you're into off roading, there are a ton of spots for that around Knoxville too.

I live in North Knoxville (Halls Community) and we boat every weekend at Norris. We have a condo on the lake as well. Waterside Condos
I have lived hear all 36 years of my life and would not want to live anywhere else

We have a problem with tribalism and labels in our political system. I was NOT a Trump guy last go round, but ultimately he was lesser of two evils. Cruz has been the closest viable “Libertarian” biased candidate, and I was a supporter, unfortunately the lowest common denominator usually wins the day. Anyways, back to our regularly scheduled forum thread....

Our current state of residence is becoming increasingly hostile towards working families, so we’re thinking of abandoning ship (along with thousands of others). I can maintain my current position as far south as Tennessee, so that’s where we are looking to relocate. We are kind of looking statewide, omitting anywhere near the hustle and bustle of Nashville. East near some of the lakes there, Chattanooga, west near Clarksville close to the Cumberland and Kentucky Lake? Idk, suggestions would be appreciated!
I grew up just south of you in Dixon. The stupidity of the politics and socialist rule is what has prevented me from moving back since I got out of the Navy. When my nuke plant here in MI shuts down, TN or the Carolinas are sounding pretty nice!

This always makes me laugh. ?

+1 for anything East of Nashville... We are 25 min to Downtown Nashville and all of its offerings, 5 min to Percy Priest Lake 10 min to Old Hickory Lake, 20 min to the Cumberland River, and 30 min to Center Hill Lake... About 2hrs to Knoxville or Chattanooga and wonderful weather for boating almost 3 seasons... Can’t go wrong with anything between the three major cities!

I've traveled all over the country with my job and haven't found many places I liked better than TN. If I were to relocate somewhere else in TN it would be Chattanooga. You should go and spend a week there. Check out the lake, the mountains, downtown, real estate. And 10Gb internet to your house for $299 a month or 1Gb for $68 a month. Chattanooga was doing fiber to the home before Google or ATT even thought about it. Internet | EPB

Kentucky Lake is very rural, look at Paris, TN if you're considering that far west.
Agree with this^^^^^ I'm from Paris but live 20 minutes north in Murray, KY now. I am still on Kentucky Lake here in Murray. Great lake with lots of room. I can even get to Knoxville and Nashville by water from here.

Chattanooga, Chattanooga, Chattanooga. Love boating here. Great lake options all around, away from the Nashville craziness but close enough to enjoy a weekend trip. Knoxville and ATL also around the corner for cheap flights out of town.

I wouldn’t used Knoxville for a cheap flight. Nashville would probably be a better option for that, IMO.

After how they just killed their medical Marijuana bill I'd personally stay away.

I’d rather deal with that then have them legalize recreational use here in IL and deal with that hot garbage. Which oh by the way, they are looking to do along with 5 more casinos. As if we didn’t have enough useless people throwing money out the window let’s give them more ways to do it so we can redistribute even more. As I said before it’s a real dumpster fire here, and it’s only going to get worse. I’m looking for a home where personal responsibility is rewarded not punished. Won’t find it in the U.D.R.F.S. (Union of Democrat Run Failing States)

It's done. They legalized last week. 20 growers till 2020. Then anyone can apply to grow up to 5000 sq ft. All dispensaries will be able to sell legal and will be able to apply for 1 additional store. No word on processors yet. No word on tracking or packaging laws yet. WA makes 4 million a day in legal cannabis. We have one of the best economies on the planet.

Without arguing politics, most rankings have Washington in the bottom half and Tennessee near the top (and as usual, my current state brings up the rear). Here’s a link to George Mason Univ. study that is fairly comprehensive:

I’m not saying you can’t make money with legalizing weed, but there are many other costs involved. Ask anyone that works in drug dependency and counseling, weed isn’t as benign as everyone thinks. Again, I don’t really care what people do in their private lives. Want to smoke weed? Go ahead. Want to OD on heroin? It’s your life, live it! But don’t burden me financially with your poor life choices, which is ultimately what ends up happening no matter where you go. So for now I’ll take a better financial situation over a poor one.

@nesnah2 I grew up going to school in Oregon and Byron, with frequent trips to Dixon! Ill assume you are either at Cook or Palisades? The company I work for does a lot with water treatment in both those facilities.

I'm at Palisades. My old man retired from the Byron Station. We just replaced our RO Unit with a leased one from Suez. I pushed for that change cuz our old unit had been in place since 1991!

Your views of cannabis are as archaic as reefer madness. For this reason I simply can't carry on. Hope you love big foreheads.

It’s not my view on cannabis, ask anyone that treats these people. Most of not all the counselors and therapists in my girlfriend’s office are dyed in the wool liberals, about as left as it gets. Not one of them agrees with legalizing marijuana. Whether you care to continue a discussion or not does not affect my life one bit. Frankly it says a lot. You go ahead and keep your views in the northwest, I’ll take mine and head somewhere successful.
