Creating NMEA Network & Interface Yamaha Engine Data

OK so, I haven't seen anything definitive that outright says, you can't use the Yacht Devices adapter to bring the data into your N2K compatible device yet; which begs the question, what data format do the MR1 Engines use? Is it J1939 or some other protocol?

From the transducer thread....

Hey, so as it happens 2006 AR230HO with MR1 engines and I know 2 other guys in the same pickle; and thats just it; analog gauges no longer working so I junked the dash and installed a Garmin and then I installed an AlbaCombi analog-N2K device but none of the simple readings are working; fuel level, tach, temp & oil are just dummy lights so those can be upgraded with N2K sensors.

I opted to drop new engines in, replace the impellers and replace the traction mats for $15k instead of a new boat for $85k

ECONOMICS :)

But hey, if you guys know someone with a can bus decoder I'd go to them all day long & twice on Sundays. Its beyond my skill, but if I cn get the Data on the protocol I can get someone to write a translator and another guy can build a simple board to input/output the data stream.

But I got no starting point except decompiling YDS to see what its doing when you plug in your Laptop- cause, I really dont need the feed to your gauges anymore after all, do i?
