Hey everyone! The family and I just picked up a new Yamaha 252s this Friday. I’m new to jet boats (but grew up on I/Os) and the DFW area. What are your favorite lakes in this area? We went out on our friend’s boat last year quite a bit so we’ve been to Grapevine, Ray Robert’s and Texoma. Just looking to see what everyone’s favorites are and why. There are so many in the area. Thanks!

@German59731 Great question! I'm following for replies. 6 months from retirement myself with children & grandchildren in Fort Worth. I can see a time in the future (maybe near) that my 242LSE and I end up in that area ?

From north Fort Worth area here! My favorite is definitely Texoma. Short 1 hour drive, awesome sandy islands near the marina and several other beachy areas that are great for anchoring and having a good time!

Really been wanting to check out possum kingdom. Ray roberts is great in the spring before it gets crowded but summer is a bit busier than I’d prefer.

@German59731 where do you live in the metroplex? We live SE of Dallas and used to go to Joe Pool all the time before we had our cruisers on Texoma. We still go to Texoma, just not near as often. It's too far for just a daytrip for us. We don't care for Ray Hubbard or Cedar Creek because both are too busy and/or too much wind with waves/chop. We've been down to Richland Chambers several times and it's a nice and clean lake and not too busy, at least not the area we were in. We've recently discovered Tawakoni and have been really enjoying it. It's only about 30 miles from the house to the ramp which to us is close. Again, we are east of Dallas and so are most of these lakes that I've mentioned. Went to Possum Kingdom once many years ago and I'm not in a hurry to go back. Wasn't crazy about crossing the metroplex to get to it. Rather go farther east and a little north to Broken Bow where there's hardly any people, our preference for sure. Would like to check out Ray Robert's and spend a long weekend in the area at some point. Just hasn't happened yet.

Hope all that helps you in some way.

See you on the water!

Weatherford here. Hoping to be able to explore more once I can secure a 210.

I love eagle mountain lake north of fort worth. good hiking near the cove and perfect glass water but only on the north end for wake-boarding and surfing. Joe pool south end over at lloyd park has a decent glass water perfect for wakeboarding and surfing. lewisville lake near the cove has somewhat of glass water areas. as you can tell im addicted to glassy water

We boat on Lewisville, the ramp is 10 minutes from the house so it's very convenient since we only go for hours or a half day of activities,

I'd much prefer clear water, Lake Murray in Ardmore is only a 45 min. drive and has very clear water, for a longer trip Broken bow is a good option and a weekend trip Ouachita in AR. is fantastic, I wasn't that impressed with PK,

We're out on Eagle Mountain 99% of the time. Possum Kingdom is a good trip too, but a bit of a drive depending on where you're coming from.

i'm liking it since its near the casino! hahaha! you got any pics? is it choppy?

I 2nd Lake Ouachita!! Although that’s a pretty good drive from DFW… but it’s essentially i-30 tho whole way…
From DFW, how long is the ride with towing, pitstops, food, gas?
