My 2005 SX230's engine gas strut mount is coming loose in the engine bay. Are these just mounted with wood screws? Has anyone seen this? I can't tell what's going on yet and was hoping someone has seen and addressed this before I try to take it apart and ptentially cause more damage then I need to.

See image. I circled the mounting block that is loose.

No experience with these particularly, but I can tell you that normally gas struts are attached to a ball joint. Usually the end of the strut has either a clip over the entire end (metal) that you pull out away from the strut opposite the ball joint. That releases it. Some (less common) have a little metal wire clip that sits in a little hole next to the ball joint and then clips around the base of the strut.

I would prop it up and pop off one side to find out what part is loose. In mine, everything back there against the wall is just wood screws into the sides.

Thank you. I'll be tackling this the next weekend that we can't go out.
