I have 2 exhaust hoses on the same engine that continue to collapse or split. Any advice on what can be the cause? I'm thinking it's because the engine is overheating. I've also had the pistons, gas lines/filter replaced and the carburetor cleaned. Compression check reading 110.- 2002 Yamaha LX 2000

It could be from lack of cooling water. It's possible that you have a blockage in the exhaust manifold cooling lines somewhere. Hopefully somebody who has inspected their exhaust will have better info for you.

Got pictures of the hoses?

It sounds like a lack of cooling water as previously mentioned it will also sound louder than the other engine at speed as the water also quiets the noise in the water box "muffler" I can usually tell by the sound if a water box is low on water. The water is injected into the exhaust system from the water supply provided by the pump so clean out all the hoses that supply water to the exhaust manifold and exhaust system.

@Montana Max. You may have sucked up some sand or debris partially or completely blocking the cooling passages in you exhaust manifold. Do you boat in fresh or salt water? If you run the boat on the hose while on the trailer do you see the same water flow from the water boxes on both engines? Have you checked your engine oil for water? It could also be as simple as a stuck thermostat. Not sure if the LX has pee holes but if so one may be running much hotter than the other.
