Flip Flops/Sandals & Sunglasses

I agree with everyone on the Costa del Mar sunglasses - great product with even better customer service. I buy the sport frames, install a pair of Cablz and their float "bobber". As of yet, have not lost a set to sea.

As for clothes and flip flops the whole family wears Southern Tide. Great clothes and all the shoes have boat bottoms.

I think I have about 4 different pairs of Oakley Gascan's then I got a pair of polarized prescription Ray Ban's and my life was never the same! Oh and you can never go wrong with a Reef sandals!

Im not into sandals, more of a barefoot kind of guy. But i have several pairs of Oakley sunglasses and Ray-Bans.

On the boat, gotta be barefoot, on a blistering hot sun-baked dock I throw on the sandals!

Maui Jim's all the way! Always polarized and I try to stick with the glass lens. Was recommended to me by an optometrist. She said that they had the best glass out there. Took her word for it and have never been disappointed. I think my wife and I have had about 10 pair between us. Tried others and we just keep going back!
As for flip flops what are those for on a boat?

I am a fan of Ray Bans for shore/driving use. But, on the boat glasses MUST float as i've lost some expensive glasses in the drink. I have come to like FishGillz. Not too pricey, polarized, and float every time. Must have polarized for the water. And if you wait for the deals, you can usually can get for 50% off...

Flip flops- I seem to find Reef's always outlast any others (without spending a lot of $$), and i wear pretty much year round as we dont see snow!! :)

Reef for Flip-flops and Oakley (Polarized) for sunglasses

I am so so naïve. I had no idea there were so many opinions on flip flop and sunglasses.

I will add my voice to @buckbuck. I have always gone for cheap sunglasses (in fact, more often than not I get safety glasses from Lowes). Equally on flip flops. Loved my cheap Crocs (before they got pricey and before mine died), but now have some equally cheap Target flip flops.

This thread makes me wonder what I am missing. Might have to try some of those Reefs, at least...

This thread should make for a good summer with all the recommendations, I am going to get some Costa sunglasses after all the reviews on here.

Get some Olukai's, you will thank me later, seriously I cringed paying almost a hundred bucks for a pair of flip flops, but they are worth every penny, have mine on as we speak.

I have extreamly light sensitive retinas, and I wear oakley turbines with the polarized prism lenses. I have the shallow water green for the lake and the ocean set for the ocean. I can see the bottom no problem and in some spots that i run seeing the bottom at 50mph is a must. I also picked up a set of electrics last year and love them as well.
Only problem is they have some sort of super sun blocker in the lens and i get raccoon eyes real bad. Lol could be worse

For sunglasses, the wife turned me on to Maui Jim's when we met 11 years ago and I haven't looked back. I think I have 4 pair now, not counting the ones I lost in the Atlantic.

For flip-flops, I can't wear Reefs; my thick Fred Flintstone feet won't fit in them. Living in Florida flip-flops are daily footwear and I have probably have half a dozen pair. My primary ones right now are my cork Teva flops, but they are wearing quicker than I though they would. Still comfortable, just showing wear. I had Olukai's before the Teva and may go back to them. I also have some cheap Riders that I find very comfy for just hanging out in, but if I'm doing any distances, they aren't the best.

I have a lot of different kinds of flip flops. Reef, Havaianas, Rainbows, and my trusty $4 flops from Old Navy. If I don't have to be wearing my work boots, I'm usually in flops.

I can't stand cheap sunglasses, so I usually stick to Ray Bans, Oakleys, or Maui Jims. However, last summer I had two pairs of Jims develop cracking in the lens. The guy at the store said it can happen from leaving them out in the sun. Something about the lens getting too hot and the tint inside the lens has an adverse reaction... On the positive side, they were both covered under warranty and replaced! I'll continue spending the $400 on sunglasses for that level of customer service.

Coda: So, the Easter Bunny got me OluKai's for Easter. My, but these are comfy...

Thank you, @AZDANSX230HO .

H.S. Trask Tracker flip flops and Oakley glasses. Bought the flip flops in a specialty store in binghampton NY 7 years ago and wish I bought more, never seen them again and theyre so comfortable. Oakleys because of comfort and Standard-issue price breaks for emergency responders.

Not a flip-flop fan here so I stick with the Vibram 5-fingers.

For driving I like Maui Jims. On the boat I use Oakley deep water polarized single frame lenses. I like that arid doesn't get in around my eyes and dry them out. At night, I use an old pod of Smith's with clear lenses in.
