Purchased this last week but do not have the balls to cut a big hole on my boat. Main reason is that I don't want to lose storage in the starboard side because that is where I put the cooler.

Buy a soft cooler for that area. I have 1 sub on each side and still have tons of room, yes the stock hard cooler wont fit anymore but a soft cooler does just as good. Then you can have the best of both worlds.
