FSH 210 Sport Audio Upgrade

I went with Audio: 4 x JL MX650s(front and rear), 1x MX10IB3 subwoofer (helm), 2xJL M3770s(on the helm). upgraded all the wiring- don't want to worry about any overheating/fires and protected all wiring with cable sleeves =). Probably not necessary but I like the peace of mind.
did you just get them? i been waiting on JL stuff for 2 months now from my local shop. Was hoping they were shipping out.

Thank you so much for your thread as I have been using it to closely copy you. In fact, I just posted another thread with my install. I have installed the rear speakers as I am not sure how to access them. Did you cut the hole and then feed the speaker wire down to fuel tank compartment? I just hate to cut in to fiberglass, not knowing what is on the other side. Cutting in helm is no big deal as I have eyes on both sides wall. Any suggestions appreciated how you installed the rear speakers.

As for the front speakers, I did use the stock wire but it is not 14g wire. I am thinking I better run new wires.

I first drilled a pilot hole with a drill bit in the center and stuck a screwdriver in to measure the depth (can't remember what that was but I do remember that the m770s did not fit that depth, but the mx650's did. Then I cut the holes in the fiberglass to fit the 650's and placed the 770s on the helm. I fed the speaker wires for the rear speakers from the amp under the helm (no need to cut holes here)->on top of the fuel tank -> into the engine compartment along the the forward wall and out to the portside battery compartment/starboardside rear storage compartment ->to the gunnels/speakers

Hello, following this thread as I'm looking to upgrade the audio system in my 22' 210 FSH. I like how you added two additional speakers to the rear, as I believe the biggest fault I have with the OEM setup is the 'rear' speakers being in the helm, located very poor IMO. I am wondering if it's even worth using/upgrading the helm speakers at all, or just eliminate them and just place them where you placed yours. It would keep the boat to a 4 speaker system for a zone 1, and then I'd add 2 tower speakers for a zone two setup. If you had to do it over again, would you bother with the 2 speakers in the helm or would you eliminate them? how did you wire the 6 speakers?

Any way you go about it, you'll be adding an amp. You could do a 6 channel if you want to power the existing 4 speakers + 2 for the tower. On my setup, I have 2 x 5.1 amps with the one for the tower speakers in bridge mode to push more power to the high power speakers.

I would recommend changing the helm speakers as well. It's quite easy because all it requires is cutting a larger hole and wiring is easily accessible. Once you put on aftermarket speakers powered by an amp you won't have any interest in listening to the stock ones.

I think I should have some info in my build thread in my signature.

thx. i wasn't planning on keeping/using the stock speakers in the helm, but thinking about omitting them entirely if I put 2 new speakers in the side walls like OP did. I can't imagine the speakers in the helm would contribute much, even if they were replaced with the same aftermarket speakers as I would use for the new rear side wall locations and the front speakers. Basically thinking about keeping the cabin speaker count to 4 instead of 6, which would simplify my amp/wiring setup. I do want to add 2 tower speakers either at the same time or later, so I'm thinking about looking for a 6 channel amp, which would provide for 4 cabin 2 tower, or if I want to still use the two helm locations, I'd have to figure out how to wire/amp those additional 2, surely resulting in 2 amps instead of 1.
