I usually go out at least once per weekend and fuel up Sunday when I take the boat back to the storage yard. I normally burn 10-20 gallons, sometimes less depending on what we do. I add Marine Stabil every 2 or 3 fill ups, hoping to average out to one per tank.

After @Scuba_ref 's recent encounter with fuel/water and phase separation, I was wondering what everyone's else practices were.

About the same. I add the Stabil every time I fill with the lowest grade unleaded I can find at a busy reliable gas station . It is cheap insurance (if it works). I think as long as you get good gas and use the additive you should be fine. I've run my boat for eight years and never had a problem with fuel phasing.

I generally fill up when I reach about 1/2 a tank. I put in Marine Stabil (now Stabil 360) with every fillup (according to the amount of fuel I put in).

I use marine stabil and I also have the combination Sierra water/fuel filter & separators which takes any water out of fuel. They are also easier to change than the OEM fuel filters since they just screw off/on.

Stabil marine as well as the Yamaha fuel treatment with every fuel up.

I haul my fuel in jerry cans.
5 gallons each, 87 octane, 1/2 oz of marine stabil in each can.

I do the same as @tdonoughue. Treat each fill with Yamaha Ring Free & Marine Satbil. Just cheep insurance.

I have only purchased fuel at two different shell stations, one in town that gets fairly robust business and one out by the area we do most of our boating at, also a fairly busy station. You just never know what you are getting and if you are getting it after a recent replenishing that stirred up the junk a=in the bottom of the station's tanks. I will now be adding Sta-bil 360 with every fill.

Add stabil at every fuel up. Always use gas stations that sell a lot of fuel. Never fill up if I see a tanker truck at gas station or pulling away from it.

Curious...why not fill up when the fuel truck is leaving? Would that not be the freshest?

If he just filled the tanks that you are getting fuel from, he just stirred up all the bad stuff laying in the bottom of the tank.

Not so sure about this. The pumps have filters to catch anything. Probably not an issue.

I get out on the boat so little that I have sta-bil in the tank year round from when I winterize.
Until Cumberland/Shelbyville trip that is, and then I just gas and go till end of the season.

Small piece of advice:
The are TWO (2) kinds of Sta-Bil.
The first, and least expensive, is PINK. This is nothing more than an excellent "fuel stabilizer, but it does nothing to address the more serious issue of ethanol, and the bad effects it has in marine and other engines.

The one everyone should be using is Medium BLUE colored.
Ya don't haveta worry about what a label says as long as it's STA-BIL and BLUE color.

Least expensive @Amazon.

"STA-BIL 360 22240 Marine with Vapor Technology, 32 oz."
$19.45 per bottle (the large one, 32 OZ). Free shipping if you order 2.
