Having difficulty getting engines to start on my 2001 LS 2000. Have used some starting fluid on one of the engines and has worked in the past. The plugs in the other engines are black and like charcoal and some fuel on them possibly. This engine will start briefly and then cuts out rather quickly. Any help is appreciated.

Do a compression test

Change plugs, compression test, check airflow, fresh fuel. Start with the basics.

Dont waste any money on parts or fuel until you verify the compression is good. Its an old 2 stroke its very possible you have weak compression and if so throwing money at anything other than fixing the problem if low compression is wasted. Wet and black plugs will happen with low compression. Rule out the worst case first. Then obviously its getting fuel so weak spark could be ypur next step
