Yesterday I was looking at my box that I keep my spare change in, it was about to overflow, so I took it to our credit union and ran it through the coin machine, little over 90 bucks. Went next door and ate some lunch, then had this crazy idea to go over to the casino and play some slots, had not been there in awhile.

To make a long story short, ended up playing this Wheel of Fortune Quarter Slot Machine with a Progressive, played on that thing for like an hour, was up to $ 168.00, almost decided to leave because I was tired of playing. Then decided OK, 10 more minutes, then BOOM all (3) Wheel Of Fortune Symbols landed on the Center Line, I Won the Multi-State Progressive Payout of $ 212,796.31 - I could not believe it, was in shock to say the least, called my Wife, she thought I was kidding, no I was not.

Took several hours for them to do the verification and what not, then come to find out the payout was a 20 year annuity. Received an email later this morning saying I could take a lump sum payment of $ 144,000.00 or the Annuity, decided to go with the lump sum payout!!!

It took until this morning for it to really sink in with my Wife and I, our youngest Daughter is getting Married in October so this will help with the Wedding, and we plan on making some wise decisions on what to do with the money. The lady I spoke with who is handling the jackpot payout said the odds of winning this is higher than the lottery!!!

Well done @AZDANSX230HO !! I hope your wife and you enjoy this major win !!
I use to goto vegas alot, well I still do, and I am a low roller compared to most of my friends.... They bet anywhere between 5-25k a HAND... yeah you heard that correctly....

Matter of fact I have two trips planned with them to NOLA, and Bahamas this year with them... His deal... Me pay for the airfare and he puts me up in the suite with him... Pretty fair deal LOL...

For those that know me, I travel alot for work (like @bronze_10 ) i have over 600k marriott and southwest points on the books LOL.... It made a nice dent of 18k round trip LOL

Holy mackerel 5-25K a hand, that's crazy!!! I like playing 3-Card Poker when we do go to the Casino's, our local one does not have it, so went for the slots instead.

Congratulations, do we see a new Yamaha in those cards? Obviously very helpful with a wedding soon. Wow Awesome.

Congratulations!
What's the tax bill on that?

Thanks, our 2008 SX230 HO is basically still new, it was not sold new until 2012, it was a recession holdover, only had like 60 hours on it, and 32 of them were at no wake speed according to the YDS. If I were to want to get a different boat, I would probably get a Nordic go fast boat, but they are not very practical, so we will keep this boat as it's paid for free and clear already.

Congratulations!
What's the tax bill on that?

We will file the winnings on our 2017 tax return, my CPA said it's treated like ordinary income, might put us in a higher tax bracket, but one of my businesses had 70K in expenditures/write off's so far this year, so that will offset about half of it, we are thinking we will net around 100-110K in the end. To be on the safe side were are putting 44K in savings until we get our taxes done at the beginning of next year, it's overkill, but would rather have more than enough to pay the taxes than not enough.

Nice! By wiser things do you mean a bigger boat?

Nope, pay for the Wedding, payoff a couple things, put some into our savings and we are thinking of buying a second home in Lake Havasu and turning it into a weekend rental for boaters on AirBnB, then we can use it on weekends that we want and others will be paying more than the mortgage each month. Still thinking through our options, no hurry to make a decision, just to make wise ones.

That's awesome!

I used to play those wheel of fortune machines and never lost by putting $100 bill in it and playing max bets each spin. At the end of using that $100 I'd have at least $125ish, Never won a jackpot or anything but I never lost money doing that.

I haven't been to a casino in years, never was a big gambler, but I enjoyed going and messing around.

Congrats man. Good people winning something is always awesome.

Congrats @AZDANSX230HO Now you can go buy a fox body Mustang

So back in the early 90's I used to go to Atlantic City quite a bit. Once, I went through all my cash except for $10. I decided to play the rest on the $1 big boy slot. Well, I went through that in about 20 secs. I said to myself oh what the hell and went over to the cash machine (which I never really did) to get some more cash. While I was at the machine I heard the alarms going off. The person that got on after me hit the jackpot. I estimate they put in <$50 and won over $1.1 million. Needless to say I drank a lot the rest of that night.
