Inground Pool

The salt generator coupled with PH automation makes life easier. Do you have both?

Honestly I have no idea. Pretty sure I have a salt generator, but it's cold a chlorine generator, right? It converts the salt to chlorine? Not sure about the pH

I did not know. Total newbie here. It’s a salt water pool which as I understand is less maintenance.
yes, saltwater is less maintenance with regards to Chlorine, but you still need to manage PH, total Alkalinity, stabilizer/CYA, etc......check out that website. it's a the best method I've found and very informative. You'll be up to speed to real quick and they also have a searchable forum to search for any questions that arise.

Yes you are correct. It uses the salt to make chlorine.
I found the PH swinging around quite a bit when I was monitoring it manually. I installed the Pentair Intellichem (there are other manufacturers to consider) and it nailed the PH to 7.3. If you have trouble controlling the acid you may want to consider it. Beware, it is expensive- its a pool thing.

By the way, I love how that dark rock creates a strong contrast next to the pool coping. Probably some female influence to make it look that good.

Dude. OMG. You have no idea. I first bought a bucket of 1”-2” black Mexican beach rocks. I placed them in the leave out and the wife looked at it and was very…meh. They weren’t really black but more light gray. She says, I really wanted more of a contrast. So I go back to the rock yard. Buy a bucket of the polished black stones you see here. Pour them in, she looks and says, that’s what I want. Here’s the kicker. The larger stones were $0.40/pound and take up more volume, the polished were $0.65/pound and pack in tighter so less coverage. But happy wife happy life right? So I buy two 32 gallon trash cans of the polished black rock to the tune of $750. I get them home and start spreading. Then it dawns on me I could have used a cheaper rock on the bottom and the polished stones as a topping and saved a boat load of cash. I check my receipt….all sales are final, no returns. At the end of the day in the grand scheme this $750 rock feature is a pimple on a fat man’s ass in terms of expense. And most important, she’s happy.

I am planning to put one in when I retire this fall but not if it is going to cost me $50K or more.

Do you have a breakdown of the costs you can share??

Multiple that budget by 3 and that’s about where I’m at. Plus I need to plant a row of Eaglestone Holly trees along fence perimeter and some more flower beds on back side which I have a quote for $14000.

Soooo. Brushing this thing 3X a day really sucks balls. I think I have 11 more days of brushing

I had the same issue at my old house. I didn’t stay on top of it and it wore out the salt cell (expensive) much faster than it should have. Gotta stay on top of the acid or get a system like that.
