If you are intending to keep the boat do both of them and go enjoy your boat with confidence reliability is very important especially if your family is involved it's normal wear and tear I do mine around 650 hours but I get that many hours in 4 years

@Nous Defions No! Just put in a couple of shots. It may have never been greased. If you put in too much, you will blow the seal. You want to purge the hose of old grease. Then, reattach hose at bearing housing and pump in new grease. Just do not over do it
You could do this while you are in the water.
That way you can see if adding grease is making a difference, for good or for bad. I would shut down engine while doing this.

I do plan to keep her. She's otherwise in great shape.

Once the engine is loose and slid forward does the coupling and intermediate shaft slide easily out of the bearing housing unit or does it need to get pressed out and back in with correct tolerances. Also is it held in with a clip? Can't seem to see it in the manual.

once you remove the pump and drive shaft the bearing housing and the driveshaft coupler come out as 1 piece but yes you need to press out the drive shaft coupler and be sure to pay attention to how far it is pressed in so you can reinstall it in the new coupler housing the correct depth

Keep in mind if the housing looks in good condition, you can do the same pressing process to the bearings and seals so you don't actually need a whole new housing, but just the insides.
