intermediate bearing replacement info.

I’ve got another idea as part of my troubleshooting. I’m thinking about pulling and swapping the pump assemblies to see if the noise moves with the pump assemblies or stays with the IDS assembly. Are there any differences between port and starboard pump assemblies?
No difference between the pumps. It is only on the nozzle part that they are different with the pressure wash fitting plugged up on the port side (left) pump. I have used the same method to track down where i thought noises were coming from. cobra SM w Fang install May 2022 .jpg5CB1C09A-E992-4B48-8E8F-DD28F50BF7F7.jpeg

Well…I chased one possibility and it made a bit of an improvement. The bolts holding the IDS to the rear bulkhead were a bit loose, so I tightened them up. This seems to have reduced the amplitude and the frequency a bit. I’m starting to lean towards the idea of a little slop between the impeller shaft and the lovejoy output shaft. I’m not sure that I want to chase this much further. I’ve read multiple complaints from others on the forum with the same issue from the same motor/drive. I’m kind of wondering if there’s a little more misalignment between engine and impeller shafts on the starboard side that’s driving a bit faster wear at the interface between lovejoy output and impeller shaft.
