I have a 2015 SX 210. When I am cleaning the deck inside the boat or it's raining hard all of the water goes to the back of the boat to the engine compartment area and there is a hole on the floor. Where that water drains from that hole is out a hole on the bottom of the boat. The very underside where there is like a little speedometer wheel and a hole. I think that little black wheel spins and tells the boat how fast it's going. Should water not be coming out of this hole from the deck? There is a tube in the engine compartment that takes it from that hole by engine compartment deck to somewhere I just can't tell where.

Please explain to me how all of this work. I am so confused. Is this a self bailing feature and it is supposed to come out that hole or something is just not sealed right and nothing should come out that hole but instead it should come out when I remove the drain plug?

Does the bilge control that water from the deck and in that tube or only water in engine compartment?

Thanks for any and all help explaining all this.

There shouldnt be any water coming out or in thru the speed sensor(paddle wheel). The hole in the floor is the self draining feature of these boats which sends the water out the rear of the boat via that tube (Scupper valve). It has a rubber flap type thing covering it on the rear of hte boat. Are you sure its just not running alongside the boat and dripping from the paddle wheel? Some folks have had the scupper issues with them cracking etc..

Try a search for scupper valve and you will see what it looks like.

I agree with above,

just to be clear with what your seeing,
There should be a hole at the rear of your cockpit that drains deck water into that hole, through a hose and out the scupper exit,

There should be (not positive about your year model) a drain hole at the bottom of your engine compartment, any water through here gets collected and sent out by the bilge pump.

I believe your scupper exit is above the water line so it's not as critical as the older boats but if it's not hooked up or leaking it could be an unneeded issue,
here is a link about the scupper from our FAQ tab,

Here is a picture that Mel posted a long time ago.

Look up scupper valve and parts in any one of parts microfiches.

Thanks fellas I will do some research. The water definitely does not come out there but at the wheel at the bottom of boat

Ouch.
Glad you caught that before too late!

Does your bilge pump come on very often when your boating? Do you turn your bilge pump on when your on the water?

Does not come on much or at least don't think so. It's always on when boats in water

The hole at the bottom of the cockpit should attach to a white ribbed tube that you will see when you raise the engine cover. If that is missing its going into the bilge. Papa

The white ribbed tube is there I just don't think the water is making it to where it supposed to be making it to since it's coming out of the wheel area on the bottom of the boat

you should be able to take out your man hole cover on your clean out tray hatch and see where the scupper hose connects to the fitting,
dump a bucket of water or run a hose in the cockpit and see if any water exits your scupper,

WHat @Scottintexas said. Just use a garden hose in a boat on the trailer, prop up the bow, fill different compartments and see where it's draining from the deck and bilge.

NOTHING should surprise about Yamaha QC failures. Thank God the engines/drives are still fairly reliable (built in Japan).

Thanks for the help guys. I will let you know when I figure out

There are a couple of holes on the transom area where rain/wash water will come out. I am assuming you are on a trailer. Those holes are the scupper and the bilge drain hole at the very bottom. Mine is a brass plug others may be plastic. Water that enters the ski locker drains to the bilge area. If your boat is not high enough on the jack, all the way up, the rain/wash water may not be running aft thru the gutter system, under the ski locker batch and fuel hatch, to the scupper. If water pools towards the bow, possible when jack is near towing height, that water usually enters the ski locker and drains to the bilge. Water may be visible in the ski locker drain, if so jack up the boats bow and open the bilge plug. If the boat is pitched correctly, all water on the cockpit and bow floors will run aft to the scupper drain hole at the floor, below the engine hatch release handle, thru a 2" + /- white plastic tube running thru the engine compartment to the scupper valve on the transom. Lots of little plastic plugs on these boats, open them to drain water to the bilge. Your bilge pump will not get all the water out so jack your boat up and pull the bilge drain plug. That is the only way to get it all out. Oh, and pictures of what you are seeing would help us help you. If you are on the water, that is different and I use 350lbs of water ballast on the swim platform to pitch the boat correctly.

Where's the I'm a dummy emoticon lol.

When I ran the water in deck on boat I was also flushing. I ran tons of water in hose then ran down to look and it looked like the water was coming from that little wheel hole area.

The service dept and I just ran water and he was down there as it was running. In this pic you can see the scupper hole to the side not in back where I was expecting it to be.

The water from deck all goes out that side hole and what I was seeing was just all that water and flush water dripping down boat by wheel area lol.

I think the biggest problem was I didn't even see the scupper over there hiding and that's where all the water was pouring out of.

I appreciate all of the help and expertise though. Learned something good today.

My only question I guess is it seems like that side scupper is underwater when the boat is sitting in the water. If the water is against it from (exit hole under the water) how does the water exit if there is pressure on the other side.

No pressure, open to atmosphere, uses gravity and self equalizes. To help understand how it works, fill a bucket of water, it represents "the lake", now take a funnel and stick the small end in the bucket below water level, this represents the scupper hose, now pour water in the funnel, it all drains out into the bucket and if the funnel was floating, not being held, it would stay at the same level you initially submerged it at. Your scupper appears to be at or above the static water line, mine is below as the pic. that @jcyamaharider provided.

That is by far the best outcome!
