Jack Recommendations

I have a 242 x and I want to jack the boat on the trailer to place wheel dollies underneath each tire.

1. Any recommendations on a jack?
2. Is the jack point obvious?
3. I am guessing this is a yes, but you can jack the trailer with the boat correct? If not, how you would change a flat.....

I use a small trolley jack "miniature floor jack" works nice .I have had to use it many times on the interstate I also carry a good warning cone.

do you have a link to something similar? Do you worry about max weight of the jack? 2 ton vs 3 ton?

They actually have 2 and ton ratings available and they are inexpensive, you jack the axel to lift the tire off the ground so a 2 ton will do fine.

you can get similar ones just about everywhere and they slide under the axel easily. this one is 29 dollars at harbor freight

Just about any jack will work, I have a Arcan Aluminum 3 ton floor jack that I keep in my garage, I also have some bottle jacks as well. Just make sure it has a good weight rating and keep in mind you are not lifting the weight of the entire boat and trailer at the same time.

Place the jack on the axle, yes you can jack the trailer with boat on it, as said before you are not lifting all of it at one time.

F Y I the reason I use the small one is that you take it with you when you are trailering the boat so if you have a flat you are set for changing it safely also the safety cone and a good x bar lug wrench, but then I also carry spare lug nuts, spare bearings, hubs, bearing buddies, grease etc. And this has saved me more than once I might add.

I have a 2 ton Jack in a plastic travel/storage box. Works out nice for traveling.
