Hell how wide is a normal yammie? Isn't it 8' 6"?

Could be, but they don't look wide, so don't worry about it - unless you go the the Keys.
And IF someone wants to go by the book, they will measure the widest point - which could be our guide posts. Plenty of ppl go to the Keys with an 8'6 boat, but have guide posts on the trailer - and get ticketed for it.

In nc its a class a, b, or c drivers license (anything upto 26k) and then a class a, b, or c cdl. (Over 26k).. Full disclosure. . I have not driven commercially for 15 years but I maintained my cdl

Over 26,000lbs does not require a CDL. Most large RV's are over 26,000lbs and they do not require a CDL.
CDL is for commercially transported loads, not for personal loads.
I have researched this extensively over the last 3 years...

oh don't worry.... i ain't going to worry about it and even if they do measure from my guide post i ain't getting no permit.. lol this is all education for when we buy a mini van!!

im not an rv guy so this is news to me.. but what if i go out and buy a 2010 kenworth and make a 52 foot rv out of the trailer? No cdl?

I made mine Removable for this reason. They are only on the trailer when I load the boat..

That's an interesting concept, I do not know. But it may very well be - IF you have the Kenworth registered as a not-for-hire vehicle - that you do not need a CDL - just a Class E or F, or in NC Class A (I looked that up)

lol learned something new... maybe when i get a minivan ill just go ahead and get one like 12 feet wide so there is not confusion.. and just hire someone to move it. lol

Right, but what about every landscaper with an f250 loaded bed and quadcab full of people hooked to a trailer with a bobcat on the back?
Truck at least 10k loaded, heavy duty double axle trailer at least 2k and decent bobcat 10k minimum and i never seen any of them get anything more than a basic truck plate which puts them at 7k plate. I have 11,000lb plate on my f150 to cover my rear. We have a 11,000 plate on our 3500 stakebed but we don't tow with it, and 26k plate on our big old catapiller powered 22' stakebed truck. I just can't figure how they get away with it every day. Sorry to rant, we have a landscaper renting back half of our shop

Screenshot_20180426-050133.png Apparently my bil is in the bahamas at Atlantis for some business convention trip. He is 6'7" i believe. The bus is not so accomidating

I have my rods, reels, and hooks for the trip but now I need to get some line. Looking at getting 1000 yards of 30lb test braided line that is yellow in color to spool two reels and two back up spools for them. Anyone see issues with that plan? Like I said complete novice at ocean fishing.

Braid first
Then about 100' or so of mono
Then about 30' of fluorocarbon
Then the business end...

65 days till July 5th which is when i start driving down!

Now I feel lost and stupid. Do I really need all that keeping in mind this will be a couple times a year thing for me and not very serious about it? I am a huge proponent of good tools and if that is what I really need then I am going to also need more guidance and conceptual understanding.

I am profcient at hunting, electrical, mechanical, computer coding, and even complex quantitative algorithms, but this fishing thing has me feeling like a fish out of water.

How do you guys keep paperwork dry?
Passports, condo info, marina info, various cash etc?

A large ziplock bag or a tablet sized dry bag.

Yeah we are going to be playing with the tablet stuff too to use as a navionics. My phone is an s6 active and i rinse it off in a barrel of water after work and it keeps kickin no problem so that will have it too. Hope my wife can navigate so i can just drive. Better that way imo.

Reef fish, especially yellow tail avoid bait where they can see the line. I use 25 pound fluorocarbon on my small reels.

I use 80# braid on two heavy reels.

I have forgotten how much line I have but nothing close to 1,000 yards. I tend to fish in 50’ or less of water.
