With all that weight he can only have one person on the boat.
Good point. Didn't think about that. That's what, 2,000lbs of batteries give or take a few?

It's addiction, problem is there is always someone with more power. I have 750 watts and MAY go up to 1000-1200 watts, only because you can't hear it when boarding. It's plenty when rafting up, but I can't keep up at most raft ups, as it appears that most party boats are running 1200-1500 watts. However, I can play my stereo all day on a single battery at a respectable volume without having to run the boat to recharge.

I never raft up at full volume, as it's just too loud and I like to visit with others.

What speakers and amps do you have? I have 800 watts now and I'm adding another 400 watt amp as soon as I uncover the boat

I've got 6 Polk audio 6.5" and two Kicker 6.5" and 1 10" sub. The amp is an older car audio 500 watt system powering the tower and sub. The cockpit and cabin are powered by Fusion head unit at 45watt per channel. I'm thinking of adding a second amp to boost the tower to 500 watts, and repurpose the current amp to the cockpit and sub.

I think you are missing the point, David. This is one of those guys that, in the process of trying to show how big his dick is, proves how big of a dick he is. :p:p:p
Maybe he just needs to boat in warmer water...then he wouldn't have to buy all of those speakers to compensate? :wideyed:

Overkill? That's an understatement. Not from a standpoint of too much but rather from the standpoint of turning a $2M boat into Swiss cheese without any real acoustic knowledge. From the intended focal point behind this party boat, the hardtop HLCDs are 15 to 20 feet farther away than the transom speakers. That's a difference of 15 to 20 times the length of a 1kHz waveform. 6 times a 200 Hz wavelength. A differential of 1/2 a wavelength at any given frequency results in serious cancellations (like a black hole). You couldn't create that much distortion if you tried on purpose.
