My son's are learning to help hook up the boat. They were unfolding the trailer tongue and pinched a brake line. Where can I get a replacement line, and how do I access the fittings to change it out? I appreciate any assistance.

it is a basic brake line that starts at the reverse solenoid. Check condition first as mine was so corroded it only spun in place and would not unthread. I opted to replace the assembly with the newest design.

Above is an exploded view with brake line on the right. I ordered from pacifictrailers. The hose by itself is p/n 18024-MF (24” flexible hydraulic trailer brake hose). I paid $18.43 and also got a new hose clip p/n 1457. Everything was just too worn out for my liking.

Connecting to the rigid line was a pain. Access was through a tiny hole. I definitely had to breathe slow, and channel some serious zen!

Been there, done that, agree it sucks. Seeing what you got makes me wish I would have upgraded instead of repaired. The new model looks good.

Lol, I’ve had help like that as well. It got better but took time.

Thanks all for sharing. I will try to get the hose off. Tell us about that new tongue.

@jakmarcus , sorry I though I was responding to you the op. If you need to access the hose and solenoid, first i recommend that you remove the C clips that hold the pins in. Once you get the pins out of the way you can slide the surge brake assembly back and forth within its sleeve. Should be able to a remove the lines from there, if not try and remove the assembly from the tongue / sleeve .

That's great thank you!

The new tongue is UFP model XR-84, p/n 40201. It is a self latching inner member slide rated for 8400 lb. with single axle disk brakes. As you lower it down the ball opens the latch and then it closes when the ball is fully seated. Extra cool if I added a compressor system with my airbags (line up with backup cam, then pump up the back end to hitch without ever getting out of the truck). But it’s not like you don’t have to hook up safety chains and lights, so a bit of a novelty. I just like how clean it is and nothing to get hung up on or twist an ankle on if coming off the bow onto the trailer.

Thank you. I have tandem axles. I will look for one that fits. Thank you!

I think all the MFI trailers are tandem axle and the shorelanders for the 24’ + models are as well but they usually come with brakes installed only on the rear axle. All this to say it should fit.

Just to clarify, we all have tandem axles, this just has the brake cylinder for only one axle being equipped with disk brakes. If you have brakes on both axles, there is a different version of that but only very few states seem to require that.

Great point
