Well... If I can get them all done and stop having to open the ecu boxes I am gonna get some good duct tape or gorilla tape and put over the top and side seams of the box.. Not sure what else can be done unless u make a roof like julian was saying.. Or figure out how to move them.

I remember my ECU being completely seal with a large number of screws and sticky gasket. This just seams strange to me.
@bronze_10 I sure hope you can get your boat on the water soon.

Well, if you are not going to use protection... (on your ECU) I should be okay, too.
But if you do - I would like to know whatcha using!

Correct me if I’m wrong. But i believe the ecu’s that have the water intrusion issue were only on the earlier models where yamaha mounted them to the rear wall of the engine compartment just under the hinged engine cover. This put it at the mercy of any water that didn’t make it to the drain in that “gap” area.

Our Non-HO engines have them mounted directly to the engine. This puts them completely under the engine cover and away from any water leaking down.

@buckbuck. .. My ecu's look like they are in a vault. Something like 20 screws hold the box together. Its crazy... Yet both boxes had water in them. Weird I know. Not sure how but there was water..

The boxes are mounted on the rear wall on my boat.

Gasket between missing?
Only other way to get water is from underneath where starter relay wires etc come out. But that's a big stretch for water to come underneath.

Gasket is in.. And before these events they had never been opened. Sealed from the factory.... It looks like it would be water tight but their must be a design flaw or something that allows water in. If it came in from the bottom then the water line would have been almost over the engines. It would have had to be that high through out the boat... And I know it wasn't that high.

In preparation for Florence. Cover went on after but cover is a few seasons old so it is a bit leaky. Hopefully no water getting in now.
