You can typically test the ECU yourself with YDS software at least if you're checking for the typical injector driver failure. You can confirm that by swapping ECUs and/or injectors. Interesting this post is 4 years old but no one knew that on a MR1 engine if you overfill the oil it sends the excess oil into the air cleaner box and clogs the filter causing the problem mentioned so for future reference if you have a MR1 engine and you experience this, the first thing to do is check the air filter for oil . The newer engines like the 1800 models have the crank case breather hoses hooked into the throttle body tube between the air box and the engine to avoid clogging the filter if excess oil is expelled.
