My new boat is in! Moomba Max

I don't want to tow with more than a few hundred lbs of lead (500 or less). My main issue with losing some of the storage was we keep our large hard cooler in there but I think I'm just going to reorganize things and stuff my cooler in the drivers helm storage behind the sub. I got plenty of room in there. The WM kit won't entirely kill my midship storage as I'll still have height leftover to stow things. It's just the length was going to be into where I use our cooler but I'm just going to work around that. I'd rather have water ballast than most of it being lead because I tow everywhere and it would get old pulling the extra lead weight on my ole 5.4L F150. I like how one member on the Moomba forum added cargo netting in his midship lockers under his midship bags. You will also noticed his hinges he added for the cushions. I may do cargo netting on mine to hold odd's and in's. The rear lockers I keep my boards, noodles, floats, etc in there and I keep my fenders in the deep engine storage bin.

So your just doing midship bags not upgrading the rear also? My dad wants to put our hard sided cooler in one of the rear bins hopefully it fits. Do you use the bimini storage for your surf boards? My truck can tow 10k lbs so I'm not so worried about the extra weight. And if need be I can use my dad's 3500 diesel that can tow a house lol. I want to store our life jackets in the other rear bin and all the fenders and dock lines somewhere midship. I even got a place all worked out just for shoes lol. But there's so much storage I don't think we will ever use but add 10 people and that changes pretty quick if it's a long day or weekend camping trip.

The wakemakers max kit is ungraded rears and adding midship ;).

I haven't used the surf pockets yet. So far I've been keeping them in the rear lockers.

So when you upgrade will you retain any of the rear locker storage?

Oh yea they'll be plenty left over. The Max is crazy deep lol. This is a guy on the Moomba forums that uses 1280 lb bags in the rear lockers on his Max, so they are about 100 lbs larger than the WM kit rear bags, and still has plenty of above bag storage.

Shit I wonder if I upgraded my bags if I'd have rear storage left

I'm not sure if the upgraded Makai 1300 lb WM bags still keep your rear bins in keeping it hidden or if the bins have to come out. Give them a call and they will let you know what's up . There might also be some pics on the forum as well but not sure. Shoot a message to dakota4ce on the Moomba forums as I think he ran the WM bags plus a ton of lead on his Makai and could fill you in.

First time giving the boat a thorough wash and cleaning inside and out. This might be the only time I wished it was a smaller boat :D. Spent about 4 hours in 95 degree heat cleaning her but at least it was under the carport.

Going through my phone I found a few pics I didn’t post from last weekend’s solo outing. Going out again this Sunday to Lake Mitchell and we should find some nice calm waters to play around in. Hoping to get about 4-6 people on the boat plus my 750 fat sac so we should be throwing a nicer wave for sure and cants wait!

Before the storms came rolling in....

More wave shaping trials...

This was with me standing between the front glass walkway. No idea what I had the wave set to but guys on the jet ski in the background found a roller or two :D...

Oh and this was the speed and rpm I was turning when I posted the flat ski wake earlier. Pretty sure I had the wake plate all the way down here. I wished I would have grabbed a pic to see rpm when I hit 40 mph but I will try to remember and check this weekend.

Just ordered 4 @BABzUSA balls. He did some cool shit to make sure I got them even tho they technically don't sell on their own site. Normally you have to buy them on Amazon, but they're sold out. I didn't want the wetsound branded balls. I wanted the gun metal gray.

I look forward to seeing your ballz.

.....somebody had to say it.

One thing I have to say I am a little disappointed by on these boats is the lack of a self bailing cockpit with the channels for water around the seats. If/when I get caught in a storm, it's going to be a PITA to dry out everything in the compartments.

Point: Yamaha.

Agree and that’s one thing I brought up on the Moomba forums. Wished it had the cockpit drain channels under the seats. I don’t get a lot of water in mine but some does make it. I think Nautique does it though but yea $$!! :D

Got a little bit of time to get out on lay lake with a buddy. It was last minute so of course I forgot my extra ballast bag...ugh! Tried to explain to him how to operate the surf system and speed and he did fairly good. My first time to get behind the boat! Didn’t go ropeless or get a ton of push with just him on the boat but still had fun slashing it up on the Nubstep. A few times I’d try to remember to lean forward and stopped leaning so far back and I could feel the rope get light and board speed up so I have some technique to learn for sure. This board carved so quick compared to my LF Fish or HL Broadcast! Really wished I grabbed the damn 750 sac as it could replace some of the bodies that were missing from today’s ride. Oh well we got out on the water and dodged most of the storms. :)

It won't be too much longer for you man :D! At least you already have the wake upgrades you need for a big wave you'll be surfing behind it in no time after the break-in.
